St. Paul's School Concord NH

Oh ok …well it didn’t sound like that. "And soon I will have to switch starting next year (or the year after if they add a course). "

No it did not. I have not signed any contract for any boarding schools yet. As a matter of fact (even though I got my Dad convinced) I still have to convince my mom. And though I am sure that I will be able to, right now as far as the local school is concerned, I am staying.

Alright…

I think that you guys should watch these, there from an inspiring chapel speech that a 6th former gave:

[YouTube - Coming Out Speech (Part 1 of 3)](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cU0-z9Wtz5g)

I think Chapel is what makes SPS so much cooler. Would you Pelicans agree?

We don’t call ourselves Pelicans…
We’re Paulies.
And yeah…

Ohh sorry. The assembly type thing seems so much more fun here than at other schools. And the vids were great, btw.

How could you have possibly watched them lol. Each ones like 8 minutes long, im still watching them.

“Thank you tucker I love you, No homo” Classic. Coming out in front of everyone takes some major guts.

haha, the day this speech was made everyone went around saying that, and singing Wonderwall.

I watched only one, I was assuming the rest were as good. I was working on a music video for english and wanted to get done.

gobigred - thanks for sharing the links to the chapel speech. I had heard how wonderful and inspirational it was so I was thrilled to get a chance to watch it. My D said that it was one of her best SPS days ever. The sense of community on campus on that particular day was reportedly more tangible then ever. That young man’s family must be immensely proud of him.

Chapel is a great time of day and crucial to the SPS community. I know its my D’s favorite part of SPS.

Definitely a major turn on and turn off for many people. According to my tour guide at least. I think some people take it to seriously, its simple a school meeting place. But I guess religious affiliation turns some people off.

Interesting take mpicz because my nonreligious child has never found it overly heavy on religion. She wouldn’t bag chapel because you risk missing a morning like the one in the video. Many chapel meetings are very comical.

My son says he will pass himself off as a “breeder”.

plenty of room at sps for those as well, sarum. Even football playing breeders are accepted. :)

I’ll tell him!:)

those videos are incredible!!!

yeah, it was the greatest chapel. everyone like felt so supportive of each other all day.

I finally got around to watching the videos (all three) and I don’t think those of you who are just entering high school realize how WONDERFUL something like this is to watch when you’re my age. I simply cannot imagine this happening when I was in high school. I have a dear friend from high school who only came out to me as an adult. I cannot say how sad it makes me to think of his struggles when we were in high school.

It is also very clear that this young man appreciates how special SPS is. This video speaks volumes.

Carrying a misplace thread to here. This it the time of year that the seniors are hearing. First it was the applicants and now it’s the graduates. Rumor was that there was a major problem. As usual I suspect rumors are cheap. No one I have talked to has said that, but here is what I posted to that thread:

My son said “a lot of people got in everywhere” and a few got in “nowhere”. But one of those did not get into Yale but did to Penn, and another did not get into an Ivy but did to UVA. Both great schools. So take the early emotional and panicked responses with a grain of salt (or more). Now is when the advisors try to solve the weird cases. Also you might go back and reread that front page NYT article from last week about waitlists this year.

It is bound to be a weird and tough year between demographics and the economy. Also realize that no schools have magic fairy dust, it is about the kids and always has been. But I cannot find anyone who is talking about any disasters. Wait and see the final results. And remember, last year Harvard accepted 5 from SPS and only one accepted them! So sit tight and we will see the facts when everything is settled (not for weeks).
