paleozoic: Is that the DVD that is sent out as part of their admissions package? It's case is black with the SPS seal on it in red & yellow. If not, I'll be sure to request a copy.

FxMom:As befits my name, I am sufficiently antediluvian to still have the video. It is called Mentors: Reflections on Enduring Faculty-Student Relationships and consists of a series of conversations with teachers and with students. It may have gone out of circulation but they might send you a library copy.

Well yesterday was decision day, so where is everyone definetely going next year?

I can't wait to go to St. Paul's, I'm really excited!!!

I took a look at their Humanities Core program and the list of literature for the first year is amazing:

So of course, I'm off to walmart.com to order a few and get my son started. It seems that these are books that they use regularly.

Yeah, the literature looks great, I love Arthurian books and Dark Ages stuff.

bumping, bumping

So is there a final tally as to who on CC will be attending SPS in the fall?

I think avoco is coming also.

Got the call on the last minute on April 14 asking me to come to St. Paul. After reading the first two pages of this thread, I feel that I can't wait to long to go to St. Paul. Woul like to take this opportunity to thank those who provided tremendous input last week when I was confused between [the school] I was accepted and [St. Paul's]. I was not sure about my decision at that time partly because [the school] really wanted me to come and I was almost giving up on any chance of being pulled from the St. Paul waitlist. Though I still can't believe this unbelievable event that took place in my life, I am really getting excited about things that will unfold in front of me coming September and onwards.

That's great redfern, and welcome to the St. Paul's Class of 2009!!!

Hopefully everyone has recieved the big packet with the course/sports/dorm questionnaire. What courses are you taking?

fxmom: Why are you unsure about the math level in which to register your son at SPS?

His teacher needs to fill out the form sent by St. Pauls that specifies what math he's currently taking (textbooks, calculators, etc). I think they will probably place him in Alg I or II.

How is that because its Alg I, Geo, Alg II. What math is he in now.

esa/fxmom: for what it is worth and only extrapolating from my own children whose preparation and motivation may be different from yours, it may be in your interest to think through your total math program at St. Paul's before you select what precisely you want to do in III form. If you are mathematically ambitious you would want to end up in VI form doing AP Physics C plus BC Calculus. That would put you into precalculus in V form, algebra 2 in IV and algebra1/geom1 in III form. If you are not mathematically ambitous or confident the sequence would be alg1, geo, alg2, precalculus/AB Calculus. Personally I think that is in your interest to discuss with your present math teacher just how good you are compared to the best in your school. If you are pretty good, I would recommend that you discuss with the head of the math department how to sequence your St. Paul's courses. There may be more flexibility than you think but the time to discuss that is now not when you get there in September

I'm more than likely going to take Alg 2, PreCalc, Calculus, Multivariable Calculus
