St. Paul's School Thread...

Esa: Despite some misgivings about your reach being greater than your grasp I have some grudging admiration for your desire to define yourself as a first rate scholar. If I were you I would go and talk to John Rocklin at SPS and ask him to shape a language/mathematics program that would pass muster at Winchester College to where if you were English you would reasonably aspire. You don't belong in a protective bubble, with your aspirations and talents you belong in a place where it is expected you will become a leader. Personally, from what you have revealed about yourself on this site over the past year, I think you need discipline. Latin under Morgan--which you probably will hate because it will force you to discipline yourself--will probably be the most important course you will ever take. At Winchester, Wren inscribed on the wall of the library he built a lapidary summary of what he thought this great school was about 'aut dice, aut discede, manet sors, tertia caedi". If you can't translate it yourself, ask somebody at St. Paul's.

Thanks, paleozoic. I'll really look into that. I'd love to learn Latin, it really helps to better understand the English language.

You learn latin because it gives an entr

Does anyone have any info regarding storage? Do students have to empty their rooms at the end of the year? Is there storage on campus or off-campus? .....

There's storage I think off campus but you have to pay for it, so I'm taking everything home, there's an article on it on Parents Online.

I was wondering did is anybody going to have to leave on Sep. 8th like me (the earliest I could arrive would be 1:00pm)?

REALLY IMPORTANT QUESTION:Are there activities on Opening Day (the 9th), because I've called SPS and no one can give me an answer. I want to know when is the best time for my mother to fly home?

Last year there was a parent's gathering in the afternoon and then we said good bye to our kids and had to leave them by 5PM, as they had activities to attend.

thanks...bump

How's everyone coming along with "The Odyssey"?

I've only read up to page 6 :(. I'll get it done before school starts.

bump............
