Has anyone here taken all of his or her classes on tuesday and thursday? Would you recommend it or is it too overwhelming on those days?

Are you an incoming freshman or already a UT student? If you’re an incoming freshman don’t worry yet, you wont register for classes until summer orientation. Either way, I wouldn’t recommend taking all your classes TTh, I’m not sure if thats even possible because each class would be 1.5 hrs long and if you’re taking 4 or 5 classes, you might have 6-7.5 hrs straight of class each day and you’d definitely have classes starting by 10am if not sooner. That gets boring and tiring. Most classes are MWF anyway. It is definitely possible to have only MWF classes and no TTh classes though.

i think it would be a bad idea.

add an labsinto that mix and you will def. be swamped on tth.

Has anyone done it on MWF? I’m thinking of trying it next semester. I commute so it would be nice to only come down three days a week. The down sides are many however. Everyone knows how tests seem to cluster. I can already envision having five tests in one day.

If anyone here has tried it, how well did it work out for you? Would you ever do it again?

labs…ugh. It might depend on your major and what classes you’re taking that semester. A MWF schedule is definitely possible, especially if you don’t have a lab. Some classes take their tests during class and others take them at night. I’ve found that none of my night tests were ever on a day of class so if you have 4 classes on a MWF, you might end up overlapping tests to be on a TTh night. You can always request a makeup, depending on your teacher. Most classes are 3 credit hours so if you have only MWF classes, you’d have at least 3-4 hrs of class each day. If you have only TTh classes, you’ll have at least 5-6 hours of class a day, and probably back-to-back, too, which is exhausting. My schedule this semester is mostly MWF with a one class on TTh. Next semester I’ll have only MWF classes even though I really want some to fall on TTh so my schedule will be distributed more evenly.

Why would they have tests at night and on different days than the class? That’s crazy. There are legitimate reasons why you may only want morning classes or just TTH classes or whatever. Students have work schedules or commute or other prior commitments.

**correction-- My schedule right now for fall 09 is mostly MWF with 1 class both TTh and a 4 hour lab as well on Tuesday. TA calc session TTh but that doesn’t count. But that’s irrelevant now. (Took the lab practical yesterday so i’m officially done with the lab! yay!)

nunya-- Tests that are taken at night are usually longer than the class time. My calculus tests are 2 hours long Tuesday nights. I think it’s better that way since there’s TA session on Tuesdays for a chance to ask last minute questions instead of MWF when I have the class which is only lecture. Even my TTh chem class (lasts 1.5 hrs) has it’s tests Wednesday night and it’s tests are 2 hrs long at least.

Almost all of my son’s tests are at night, including one this Friday night  which is a bummer!

He scheduled 3 out of 5 of his classes on Tues/Thurs and didn’t have a problem. Also, for some reason, many of his business school classes are either M/W or T/T, with no classes on Fridays. Not sure why.

I’ve stacked heavily MWF (1 class on T, 1 and a lab on Thrus), it was a light semester so it was doable. This semester I stacked 3 heavy work courses on thursday and it almost killed me. It depends on the classes and your major. Go to Pickaprof and check out the expected work load and use that to make an educated decision.
