Stage Management Program Interview

I recently applied to Syracuse University in NY. I applied to their Stage Management program, and sent in my portfolio, and am now required to do a phone interview with them. Since this will be my first college interview, I was wondering what kinds of things the interviewer will ask, and how long it might take? I'm assuming they'll ask you all the basics such as why you want to go into SMing, but what might some of the hardest or even more basic things they'll ask you be? And what should I do to prepare for it?

Also, what is the acceptance rate for the Syracuse SM program? I don't know if anyone knows, but I'm interested in finding out.

Thank you.

We have similar threads, but focusing on interviews for Acting programs. Some of the questions for actors may well be the same for Stage Managers.

We have no way of predicting what you will be asked, they will ask different questions of different applicants.

Since you have asked about “basics”, I would be prepared to talk about what a Stage Manager actually IS. And why do we need Stage Managers?

Also be prepared to talk more generally about theatre. What is the last play you saw?

As I said in another thread, as long as you understand why it is you want to study at Syracuse, and how they will benefit from having you as a student, you should do fine.
