Stamps Scholars

I noticed that the Stamps Scholarship Program has partnered with an interesting mix of schools. I was curious as to exactly how this program is viewed by people & Stamp Scholars from the higher tiered schools to people & Stamp Scholars from the lower tiered schools. By no means am I putting any of these school down or even putting some on a pedestal. I am simply wondering when Stamps Scholars get together are their experiences similar regardless of their respective schools. Looking at the following link, it seems the list of partner schools is very diverse. http://www.stampsfoundation.org/partners/

I am interested to know as well–I sent in an okay for Caltech to forward my application to Stamps for consideration a while ago, but haven’t heard anything from UChicago or Purdue yet.

@Nobody426 did you get the interview with Mr. Stamps?

I have not received any sorts of request for an interview yet.

I think they usually take place later on. At USC, for example, they’re picked from a pool of candidates for another scholarship. Mid/late March, maybe?

I had my interview with Mr. Stamps for Caltech a few days ago

^ Looks like it varies by school.

https://www.finaid.caltech.edu/TypesofAid/grants/Stamps -CalTech’s, for example, has a need component.

Some schools, such as UCLA or USC, use merit only:

OP, if you dont qualify for aid, you need to check if the schools you’re interested in have a financial component to qualify for Stamps.

My original question was actually in regard with the fact that some of the schools that offered the Stamps are rather prestigious while others are not. Is it worth accepting a Stamps Scholarship to one of the lesser prestigious schools if you can afford to go to a better school (note not an ivy or anything)? It seems like it would be a bit odd when the leadership weekends occur and students get together from various schools - that there could be quite a range of not only accomplishments, but also perhaps, drive. Just curious about people’s thoughts regarding the diverse range of schools that offer the Stamps.
