[STANDOUT]Chances of getting into West Point and other top-notch colleges?[/STANDOUT]

Am I a good college candidate?
Re-written for more clearness:

So here's the thing, I was born in the US but I've studied in Brazil for my whole life. I'm in Sophomore and will be going to my Senior year at Phillips Andover Academy. I was awarded 3rd best student of Middle School. My GPA is "More than 3.0" last year (my school is known almost everyone's grade at the first year of high school - before last year I had higher grades). I will study very hard this year.

I am fluent in Portuguese, English, beginner Spanish and will be learning French this year probably.
The sports are my weakness. What I like, Running, Track&Field, is not offered at my school nor anywhere near me, since people here care more about Soccer than anything else.
I've been 3 times elected Class Representative (highest - and only - position achievable by a student).
I was the Chief-Editor at the School newspaper.
I attended Summer Sessions in Phillips Andover Academy, Phillips Exeter Academy, IDTech Camps at MIT and Summer Study in Paris (SSIP).

Now hear this: In Brazil, we have a "locked" grid. EVERYONE studies Portuguese, English, Spanish, Math, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, History. I studied English on a language school at the afternoon and so will I do French. We also have 2 PE classes which are mostly to prevent sedentarism.

To enter the equivalent to College in Brazil (we enter Law School, Med School or any other school right after High SChool) we take a test. Sports are not as nearly as important as it is in the US, that's what I'm worried, especially considering my goal to enter West Point.

That's about it.

Also, how hard is for me to get a varsity letter at Senior Year alone? (We don't have Varsity letters here in Brazil).

Thanks a lot for your answers!

P.S. What are my chances of entering USMA, Ivy League colleges... Virginia Military Institute and other colleges?

Thanks bunches!

CONCERNING SAT:

I am not worried about it right now, say that I will have a 2000 total grade for simplicity sakes.

(Note: Mathematics (and academics in general) are known to be more rigorous in Brazil than in the US. I am not opening a discussion or anything, just a note)

2nd NOTE: We don't have all these clubs and ECs common to the US. In fact, I am now having 2 days each week for which I'll have classes from 7:10AM to 17:10, as opposed to normal 7:10 to 12:30. This means I might not have enough time for different ECs...

EDIT---

First Post, so sorry if I am doing anything wrong/not specific enough...

Useful information about High Schools in Brazil
[High school - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](<a href=“Secondary school - Wikipedia”>Secondary school - Wikipedia)

So you have no GPA, no SAT score, you’re a sophomore and you want people to judge your qualification for college admission?

Yep, especially considering I said to consider a 2000 SAT score. (If you read my thread)

My GPA for this year was 8.4 out of 10. 3.36 out of 4 converting. Brazilian High School only last, formally, for 3 years, while the US High School begins one year and a half earlier (if you had the curiosity of reading the link I provided).

I hope I provided you with basic information.

What I’m especially worried, though, is the ECs. You see, ECs in Brazil are rare. We have no clubs. I was just wondering what should I take in my Senior Year at the US. And how does coming from another country and another country affects my application.

I did read your thread. But what’s the point if that’s not an actual score. I have known dozens of students that estimated their score to be 2000+ based on practice tests and were no where near that on the real thing.

how do you know that you’ve been accepted into PA? acceptances don’t come until march 10th.

The PA thing is for next year (grad for 2012). I’ve talked to the admissions dean there once, and also I’ve been told that getting into Regular Year at PA is easier than to the Summer Session. Anyways, I never had problems with my grades or any disciplinary actions (in fact deans at my school treat me as I was an example to the other students).

For simplicity… Consider everything I said hypothetical. SUPPOSE I have all the qualifications I wrote, ex. Suppose I’m grading at PA with a 2000 SAT score and 3.4GPA… And all the other stuff I wrote on the first post.

What I’m most worried is how would college admissions board look at me consider I come from a different teaching culture.

I am also a sophomore in high school, so I do not have any expert advice on the subject; however, I would like to point out that West Point accepts international students and your diverse linguistic skills and unique situation may be a good thing to help you stand out on your application.

You might want to post on the different forums. West Point, for example, is looking for leadership in addition to grades and scores, and the leadership is usually demonstrated through sports and leading organizations/clubs. It is pretty difficult for anyone on here to predict your success when you don’t yet have anything concrete.

You might also look in to attending one of the summer leadership programs at the academy; however, I do not think that you can do that until after your junior year.
