really? I don't think they need the transcript by today. For USC, you just had to send it soon after the application deadline

They don't need the transcript, and I doubt it would be a big deal if its postmarked a couple of days later, but I believe the official deadline for transcripts being POSTMARKED (not actually received) was 3/15.

Regardless, I'm doing a half assed application any way, so I'm not too mad at myself for being late for the Stanford appl. Don't really have a shot and just applying for the hell of it. I'm just going to work on it till its finished and then submit it. Hopefully it'll still let me.... :(

From Stanford FAQs:
Does Stanford review late applications?
Due to the large volume of applications and the size of our incoming freshman class, we cannot review late applications.

and why would you waste $75 and TIME if you arent going to put your all into it?

Yikes! I hope my transcripts went out on time. I'm sending transcripts from 4 different schools. Some of them are quite lazy.

tamtam: What is it they're doing in the Cornell thead? Or rather, why don't you start?

well even tho the deadline has passed, we need ot keep this thread alive!

so...let's post stats! i'll start:

Currently First Year at University of California, Irvine
First Quarter GPA: 3.93, after this quarter ends (that is, today lol), 3.96ish
Dean's Honors List
Conducting Independent Research

High School Stats:
3.2 UW w/ 10+ APs
2170 SAT I , 800/730/630 SAt IIs (math ii, us history, biology :( )
Debate Team Co-Captain, freshman mentor, ap scholar w/ distinction, national merit scholar

Essays: really really good i thought
Recs: should be outstanding, both profs writing them really like me and said they added extra stuff about me on the back of the rec

can't wait till may!!

I am sending my transcripts at the end of this quarter. Typically the deadline refers to main recommendations and the application itself. certain side things (like transcripts) dont usually matter as much, although being retarded with them is just stupid. They do actually need them to make their decision, but time constraints with such things are all just too common.

On a side note I just found out my secondary school transcripts and my optional rec to 3 different schools will be mailed passed the deadline since somehow, when my mom was handing them, she ***ing switched them and they caught on only at the last min due to a massive expo at my HS. if anybody wants to know how my email gets responded to (since it include some of their 'late policy' information) ill be happy to post it.

While I envy your confidence Seiken, I would suggest contacting Stanford to make certain that late supplemental materials will not be detrimental to your application. From personal experience (with UT last year), my app was immediately rejected as my transcripts did not make it by the deadline.

Yea, Seiken (any relation to Seitan? j/k), please post it when you can. I think I'll try to follow up on my transcripts on Monday; if any are going to be late, I'll email Stanford, too.

I submitted my app four hours before the deadline, its kinda funny because I worked on it for three months and still waited until the last minute, lol. Though, I submitted a bunch of apps and I am physically and mentally drained.

Do I have to submit the Secondary School Report or just a high school transcript will do?

nonlocality - lol, yeah and I submitted the pre-application and most of my supplementary materials to Wesleyan back in June (last year!) and I still turned in the app the day before the deadline.

Thats so true!! when i applied to northwestern as a winter applicant, i was immediately rejected for turning in the dean's signature page 3 days late. I got my rejection 3 days after i sent it Lol!! I know they didnt even look at my application....

don't they contact us if they are missing information?

I just learnt that one of my professors did not send the letter yet. He will send it next week. Would it cause any problems? What do you guys think?

Patriot: "don't they contact us if they are missing information?"

Yea, I read that too, but I'm not sure exactly what that means. Either they say, "We haven't received your T4 form, please send it in ASAP," or "We haven't received your T4 form, you're denied."

FWIW, I emailed Stanford admissions, "Is there any way to know at some point if you have received all of the forms? I've been placing delivery confirmation on each envelope, and a couple of them that should have arrived at Stanford by now don't seem to show up on the USPS tracking website as having arrived yet. I'd hate to jeopardize my application because of a simple delivery error."

Their reply: "In mid -April we will send you an e-mail with instructions how to check the status of your application on line. Please check your spam blockers, to make sure that you receive our messages."

wow they sound ever so helpful

i sent an e-mail to stanford and they said that they will contact us in mid-april and we will be able to send our missing documents "without any penalty."

lol so they don't even start reading stuff until that time

yeah, they are not even finished with freshman apps..after that the adcom for transfer will read the apps

I dropped off some supplemental materials on Wednesday (3/14) and met with an admissions officer. He said recommendations and transcripts are OK to be late and that they will confirm receipt and give you a grace period (about a week) to submit any remaining documents. Emails should go out around April 15. After all freshman respond, they begin to evaluate transfers and pick off from wait-list as well. He also mentioned an expected 5-8% admit rate. Good luck, everyone!

Where are most of you all applying from? Has anyone heard whether Stanford values highest marks from lower schools/JCs or highest tier with strong marks?
