I was out at Stanford a few weeks ago, but had not good reasons to pester the admissions office :(.

approximately 2 more weeks... i'm getting anxious...

may 15th right? do they send us an email w/ the decision in it, or just an email w/ the link? I'm also curious...anyone care to call their office and ask if acceptance letters are gonna be sent out via DHL or something like that? because we could just do what Columbia students did, and call to see if any packages were being sent to their area...

i thought they would first electronically release decisions and then send out letters... haha, columbia kids are funny.

you go to the same website interface you used to draft your application. in the middle of your page it will have a link, "access your decision"

that link prompts a web-based email with your decision letter.

so nervous!

Anyone know why catcherny1 wanted to transfer from Dartmouth?

Are you attempting meander toward the question of: "Does the person from a very prestigious school also have a good reason to transfer?", because that would immediately supersede your position in the worthiness hierarchy? ;)
Or are you simply curious as to why someone would be interested in getting away from a school of Darmouth's caliber? :)

what are your safety schools?

What kind of schools are all of you guys from? Community colleges? Four year institutions?

Northwestern U . No safety schools (or any other schools for that matter) here. I am grateful to be at the school I am enrolled in currently and am preparing myself as thought Stanford will reject me.
Of course it is my certain belief that Stanford is the place of best fit for me (especially based on extracurricular involvements), but I cannot be disappointed with the education at either spot for the mostpart.
I should be in a great spot either way, and I am sure everyone in this thread will be capable and smart enough to make the best of their situation next year or you wouldn't have applied to Stanford :)

I am at UCI right now, and I've alreayd been accepted into WUSTL, but Stanford works out perfectly for me, in terms of education, short distance from my mommy, and keeping the same kickass weather I have right now :)

I am at Cornell right now... I want to be in California next year..I don't like Ithaca, and the social life at Cornell..

UCB. i'd have to admit though... if i do end up going to stanford, you might still see me wearing blue and gold during the big game =x

oh ****, berkelye, cornell, northwestern?! u guys all have a big edge on me :( :( :(

imran,
Yes and no. While these three schools have stronger academic reputation, this might make us look 'smarter' (which I'm sure is not the case), but also gives us fewer academic reasons to need a transfer to Stanford, if you follow my logic.
The good news is that the school you were accepted to already is a great one, and regardless it seems you would be pleased, or else you wouldn't have bothered to apply there. I on the otherhand, want so badly to be at Stanford to work on the Peninsula with Habitat for Humanity and to continue tutoring a HS student who will be a senior next year, both of which I had to leave behind when my gap year was finished and I came to Northwestern. Anything other than acceptance will continue to cause a great void in the realm of community service and community development that I am passionate for :(.
As I see it, Stanford has valid reason to reject me in that doing so will not punish or injure my chances for success in life because they see I'm at a great school and involved on campus, to the point where emotions aside, there is no reason to leave based strictly on the academics.

wow Brackis, you have very compelling reasons to transfer! I was partially kidding about the shock at the better schools - at this point, I really think it's a crapshoot for everyone, but hopefully you've mentioned all this in your application, because if you have, I think you've got a solid chance man (or woman).

And haha, UCI is a good school, but I actually just applied there on a whim (because my dad made me partially :P ), and I just got owned in general by the college admissions game last year, so I"m trying to get into a school where I think i'll be a better fit

Thanks imran,
I did my best, without coming off like someone who has the emotional fortitude of a corn-chip.
Discussing the admissions process with other articulate and qualified applicants can on one hand be intimidating when you see so many great stats, stories, and whatnot, but in the end it is actually comforting to know that those who do get in are truly worthy people who are not going to spoil the opportunity Stanford grants them.

hey guys,

I found this message on the Stanford Transfer Applicants Site:
A Message from the Office of Admission
Admission decisions for transfer applicants will be mailed at 3pm (Pacific Time) on Tuesday, May 15, 2007. Applicants will also be able to access admission decisions via a secure, password-protected website. All applicants will be sent an email explaining how to access their admission decision online. Decisions will not be available by phone, email or in person. Applicants may access their admission decision online regardless of whether they applied online or by paper application. Applicants will receive an official decision letter by mail regardless of whether or not they choose to view their decision online.

where did u find that??
