Awesome Prussia! That’s weird though… Calc AB and Calc BC put you in the same math classes?

I have noooo idea what Math 51 is. Looking at college course names always leaves me clueless. So many numbers and ambiguous titles!
I think I’ll wait until I’m actually there to figure it all out, haha.

Yeah, apparently. I guess they consider them the same base skillsets? Dunno.

Also, for what it’s worth: Who’s thrilled to have Veteran’s Day off tomorrow!? Woo!
It’s actually the first year my school gave us that holiday off…

Is BC much more than AB, anyway? From what I remember, all we had to study for the BC part was taylor’s series/euler’s method.

We don’t get that day off here…lucky lol. But my thanks goes out to those brave enough to serve our country by standing in the line of danger. Go Vets!

We don’t get it off either! My parents both get a day off their work though, lucky them

BC does the entire Calc II, while AB only does 1/2 of Calc II… at least at my school

Haha aww I’m sorry then!! Didn’t mean to rub it in, I thought most people got it off :****) Derp, self.

I have a question…
why do some people mention REA? is this regular early action?
i was under the impression stanford had either “single choice early action” or “regular decision”

restricted early action I think… same as SCEA

no worries Prussia =P I’m looking forward to the weekend though

REA stands for Restrictive Early Action
It’s Stanford’s early application program if you submitted your app under the EA option on your Common APP and the due date for EA was Oct 30 I believe. SO yeah that is the same as single choice early action pretty much I think. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

I prefer ACT over SAT, mainly because I did better on the ACT… Critical reading was my weak point on the SAT (790M, 700CR, 790W), but I destroyed it on the ACT. I don’t know why, but the CR section on the ACT was much much easier for me. Though I must say that science section was a real pain, and seems to be hit-or-miss for most people I know. My friend got a 29 science subscore his first time, which brought his score down, then got a 35 on it the next time. Just goes to show that at a certain point standardized testing is part luck.

I thought I was going to like the ACT better, but then I took the SAT and did well and never ended up taking the ACT.

im always 1 short of the +1 line, and thats kind of a big deal on the ACT when the level increments are so small (33.25–>33 vs 33.5—>34) (34/36/28/35)

last ACT i took i got a 34 on reading so i would have had a 35 composite if i could super score :P

So, this is the intramural sport list at Stanford:

https://www.stanford.edu/dept/pe/cgi-bin/services/intramural-sports/sports/

If you guys got in, which ones would you like to play?

They all look pretty good to me but I think Table Tennis, Ultimate Frisbee and Dodgeball would be my top 3.

I know Prussia and Diivio were interested in Math 51. Well, I’ve taken the course (High School Summer College) and it’s actually very interesting. Basically the course consists of linear algebra (matrices, etc.) and multivariate calculus (partial derivatives, etc.). I took the course after having taken AP Calc AB and I still managed to do well.

Since we’re discussing classes at Stanford, I thought I’d ask you guys this - what do you plan to major in if all goes well (and you get in)?

I plan on majoring in neuroscience and philosophy…ecept stanford doesn’t have a neuroscience major unfortunately…but i think i can still take neuroscience classes at the school of medicine.

I plan on majoring in Human Biology. I want to do Med school afterwards; if I can, I’d love to do this: [The M.D.-Ph.D. Program at Harvard Medical School](Harvard/MIT MDPhD Program)
Stanford’s med school is very tempting, too, though…
Then I want to go on to get a MPH and then DPH (Masters/Doctorate Public Health).
(I want to do research as a professor in that as a career, if possible.)

It would be cool if I could minor in art just for fun but I haven’t actually looked into it yet…

Ohh, cool, thanks Juggernaut! So, you took it in Stanford’s summer program, or somewhere else? How did you like it there? Did you stay on campus?

I never played sports in high school, but I have to admit, I would love to participate in some at Stanford. Dodgeball sounds like so much fun. I’d also love to try tennis, soccer, and/or swimming… All for fun, though. I’m not really looking to do anything super competitively.

Table Tennis is where it’s at@! :)

20 days until QB notifications… I ranked Stanford as my number one.

QB as in… Questbridge? Does notifications means you’ll get your decision?

33 days until Dec 15 for me…

math/econ

and ultimate frisbee all the way
