Stanford 2016 Official Transfer Thread

When are decisions coming…?

Website says the 15th but that’s a Sunday? But I’ve seen rumors of May 6th

Hey guys! just found this thread. I applied to transfer too

some basic stats:
Status: Freshman applying to transfer as a sophomore
Current University: Cornell
Major: Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical)
HS GPA: 4.6 weighted
Current College GPA: 3.65 — Dean’s list, this is only first semester tho
SAT: 2260 - one sitting
ACT: 35 - one sitting
First semester took 19 credits
currently taking 20 credits
AP: 5 on Chem, 4 on Bio, 5 on Physics C: Mechanics, 5 on Calc BC, 5 on Comp SCi, 5 on Lang&Comp, 5 on Stat, 4 on APUSH, 4 on Macro,

I’m part of a few clubs and engineering competition teams. I did a lot of competitions in high school in robotics and stuff. And I was president of a lot of clubs from Math honor society to Editor of my literary magazine. And I did some individual robotics and coding projects. I’m also on track to graduate in 3 years.

I think my essays were good. I’m proud of them, but they’re all a bit quirky and kind of off-beat so I hope the admissions people can understand my personality in them and not just think I’m crazy or weird.

Question: I feel like a lot of my accomplishments still rest in HS. It’ only been a semester here and as much as I’ve gotten involved, it hasn’t yet gotten to a higher level than HS. Does that reflect badly? Will it hurt my application that I’m still kind of relying on my HS accomplishments?

Also, @bioskater MAY 6th? is that actually a possibility? because that would be amazing. where did you see that?

@rpc222 I saw it on a Harvard thread and I think someone that claimed to be a legacy candidate said his parents received a letter saying decisions would be sent out after 4 pm on May 6th

Hey guys,

Just stumbled upon this thread tonight. My dad’s and alumni and he got a letter after they received my app, which also stated the day we will be told their decisions.

Transfer decisions tomorrow.

I repeat! Transfer decisions May 4th, 2016. Tomorrow!

I’ve been wrestling with that date for about a month now. I would have posted this earlier if I had known.

The letter also reiterated that they receive 2,000 applicants, and expect to admit between 35-40 students.

Good luck to everyone!

@transferhaksaeng
Tomorrow, a Wednedsday!? Would you mind PMing me the letter?

Sorry, I’m away at school and it was a physical letter, not an email. They sent it to my father, not to me.

But yeah! Tomorrow!

Don’t see why they’d lie to an alumni parent! haha

Good luck anyways! Guess we’ll know really soon!

I hope you all get in! When you get that admit, remember that it’s okay to scream or cry–same goes if you don’t.

@transferhaksaeng Nice, tomorrow would be as good of a time as any to see if we can get in.

Don’t believe anything. I’m still waiting on May 15th… I don’t get trolled easily! haha
someone did show me a letter where it said May 6th though…

Seriously doubt its tomorrow. That’s way too soon! Still expecting the 15th. Don’t want to get butterflies for no reason!

I would love for decisions to come out this week. I guess we’ll know in a couple of hours if it’ll be today or not…

What time do you think we would find out?

I just read the thread about admissions being released today and my heart skipped a beat! I think it’s too soon, but you never know!

When they are released, I think they usually release admission notices at 3:00PM Pacific time…

do they ever send a heads up in advance or do we just get an email that our decision is available?

I just called the office of admissions and was told they will be released some time next week. She didn’t have an exact date though…

They usually post on the admissions blog two days prior. I’ve been checking everyday just in case.

Im jumpy. Probabpy submitting my SIR to UCI soon but if stanford accepts me… well, I can dream, right?

They finally announced it!! The decision will come out this Friday, May 6, starting at 3:00pm PST!

Edit: the decision will be available on the Application Status Page-- NOT via email.

Where did they announce it??
