@calvinwong I was also just rejected by Cornell. Makes the outlook for a university as selective as Stanford pretty dismal, but I guess the prospects weren’t too bright to begin with! I know of many well qualified applicants who got rejected by Cornell yesterday, myself included.
@DivergentScholar I know how frustrated this is. Well, hopefully, I save up my luck and odds for Stanford.
it looks like there isnt a consistent date in past threads for the admissions decision to come up. Historically it has been a Monday or Friday between May 8 - 13
Sorry for those of you who got denied to Cornell. I was going to apply to Cornell as well but I couldn’t bare to do the essays, especially with my class load! Tomorrow is Berkeley decisions.
Accepted to every school I applied to- UCSB, UCI, UCLA, and now UCB. I hope this means it was worthwhile applying to Stanford…
@shooting4themoon I got accepted into the 4 UCs I applied to too… UCSD, UCSB, UCLA, UCB… I still don’t think my chances of getting into Stanford are that high lol… That just goes to show you that mostly everyone who applies to Stanford is really competitive on paper (we’re getting accepted into all these schools) lol
@FerPhys
I definitely wouldn’t call my chances high either haha. You’re right, most applicants are impressive and competitive. Good luck to us all, I just want to know already…
But don’t mind my babbling lol, I’m just trying to make myself feel better for spending all that time/money/energy on this app.
Don’t wanna be a downer but I’d suggest that everyone on this thread assume that it will be a rejection. I applied too, but there is literally almost zero to no chance. I’d be surprised to see more than maybe one CC member be accepted.
Not only is the acceptance rate less than 2%, Stanford looks for non-traditional or veteran students for their transfer class (20-25 spots). If you are a traditional student who is looking to transfer, you’d probably have to cure cancer, solve world hunger, attain world peace, invent time travel, and discover the meaning of life to have a shot.
Even a small chance is a chance. I’m expecting a rejection, but I don’t think it hurts to be excited as long as expectations are managed.
I actually withdrew my first application last week, and declined a spot. I’ve never had enough options to be able to do that, so I’m pretty happy even if Stanford rejects me. I hope y’all feel the same way about your options. Pretty much every school I’ve seen mentioned in this thread is someone’s dream college.
Well, i calculated it. For traditional CC applicants I calculated a .2% chance of myself (goes for you guys too) of getting in. The lottery has even worse chances and I still play that haha. I’m sure I’ll get rejected as well but at this point its just for kicks and giggles! I’ll probably end up at Berkeley
Are nontraditional students uncommon where y’all are from? I’m a veteran living in a military area, so nontraditional students are normal here. I’ve heard it won’t necessarily be the norm wherever I wind up, which is a little strange to me. I’m 27, and used to being around a range of ages from just finished high school to retirees.
@fainfolly I’ve met some veteran students but not any that wanted to go somewhere like Stanford haha
What about other nontraditional students looking to transfer? I know quite a few, but that’s my peer group.
We’re getting closer to the date! This is so exciting!
I never shared my stats so here you go:
SAT: 1800 (Taken once)
GPA: Columbia University (Semester of Freshman year): 3.6
Current GPA: University of Minnesota 3.45
Previous work experience: ESL Instructor and Regional Manager of a chain of coffee shops in NYC.
I’m a non-traditional student (I’m 31), married, gay, and a minority. I know my SAT scores are REALLY low! I didn’t realize I needed them (Columbia conducted their own testing) and I signed up at the last minute and didn’t have a chance to study.
I don’t think they consider demographics as heavily as they do the hard numbers and essays - that’s what shows who you are and capable of achieving!
Hi guys!
I’m new to posting on this site even though I’ve been obsessively looking on the transfer threads of the schools i’ve applied to. Stanford is my dream school, so I suppose I’ll post my stats!
SAT: 1980
GPA: 3.68 Community College in California
HS GPA: 4.3
work experience: 1 year internship with a breast surgeon, 8 month internship with an oral & maxillofacial surgeon, worked the last 3 years running my dad’s dental office
EC: internationally ranked competitive figure skater of 19 years, multiple rankings and titles.
I’m 22 going on 23 and definitely maybe a non traditional student? i did distance learning for all of high school because I was traveling internationally for figure skating competitions, and I’ve continued my studies at my CC for the last four years while training and juggling my internships and work. I had to have three hip surgeries which kind of ended my career and is why I’m transferring earlier than expected (was trying for olympic quals for 2018)
I’ve been stressing out like you would not believe about this application.
I have applied too! Although just like everyone, I’m not sure what my chances are.
I got accepted to UCLA,UCSD, UCI , UCSB and UCB with a 3.946 GPA (California Community College). However, the only downfall is that I took SAT only once and had a score of 1780. What are my chances?
Chemical Engineering major.
Did a research program in UC Berkeley
Non traditional: first generation student, low income, moved to the States only 2 years ago, woman in engineering
Welcome to the thread, @bioskater and @heilm030 . What other colleges are y’all looking at?
I got in to BU and UNC, rejected from Northwestern, waiting on UChicago, Brown, Stanford and UW
Hello @lakshiii and welcome to the thread.
Hello, I’m applying as a transfer as well! Accepted to Penn CAS and Cornell ILR so far. Seeing if Stanford will make my decision even harder lololol.
