@emenya Me too! I had 2 huge projects in the works but now it’s full speed ahead so I can get that onto my “optional” update form.

@Hoggirl thanks!

And @emenya yes! Def wishing I had done nanowrimo this year haha
Oh well I guess I will just go discover a cure for rabies or something (joke)

Haha, I’ve had this program idea in the back of my mind for the past few months (majoring in CS) but now that I’ve been deferred I think I’ll get to it. Nothing major, but at least it’s something.

Hi guys! I sort of ran the deferral thread last year and I’m up for answering all your questions this year, but I’m currently in the throes of final exams here at Yale, so I probably won’t respond to anything until Thursday.

Sjs: after D was deferred she mourned for a week, then finished the apps that hadn’t been done. She got into or waitlisted to all her remaining schools except one. She is now studying for her soph finals - at Princeton. (List included Miami, Vandy, Duke, Penn, Dartmouth, Harvard, USC, Stanford and Princeton.)

@stemit Wow! That’s amazing! I’m feeling a bit better now :)

Yeah, @Bulldog2017 your posts were really helpful and encouraging last year! Read through the thread a couple of weeks ago, and it made me feel better. Everyone just take a quick moment to read the thread :)

What other schools are you all applying to? I’ve applied to BU and have Princeton, Columbia, Harvard, and Rice to work on this winter break

Hey guys! I have been around on the threads for a week or two, and I finally decided to get an account haha.

I was just deferred from Stanford, so I’m in the same boat as all of you. At first I was a little discouraged (while still pretty excited), but now I’m really motivated. I have a good feeling that I will get into Stanford, but I will be completing applications to Duke, Harvard, Yale, Pomona, Macalester, UPenn, and Washington University in St. Louis.

Hey y’all! I was deferred two years ago, and I"ll admit it was awful - the waiting was absolutely horrible. I think, though, it allowed me to really enjoy my senior year without being stuck on Stanford from December onwards. In the end, I was accepted at Stanford, Yale, Dartmouth, and Berkeley, among others - and I’m a happy Stanford student now. Keep your chins up - I have so many friends here who were deferred, and traditionally a deferral at Stanford means “something.” GOOD LUCK, and hope to see you guys on the Farm soon

@harborceal How did you deal with the emotional aspect of the deferral? Right now, the emotions seem to be the hardest part.

Optional update form question: are you all generally planning to submit one at the end of feb, or a couple different ones? (one now, maybe one when semester ends in mid-jan, one at end of feb…)

obviously there has to be something meaningful everytime, but is it “Better” to lump it all in one, or spread it out?

@Govgirl I’m personally planning on just submitting one at the end of February. But, I think some people submit more than one (depending on how significant the accomplishments are, of course).

Also got deferred on Friday, decided to make an account to be able to post! Trying to look at this positively and hope for the best in the RD round

@bullldog. Very helpful. You are in my son’s class at Yale and you are just the type of person that I am glad us there.

I think I’ll submit just one update form. TBH, I don’t think anything major will happen to me between now and February, like an award or anything like that. I’ll probably talk about some programs I’ve been writing for fun (plan to major in CS).

@Govgirl I think I’ll submit the update form in February. Lol yeah it’s decided: That book will be finished!

Can I send an additional rec letter? (This is from a research mentor)

@sjsprint the e-mail says that you cannot send any more letters of recommendation

@tyrion14 Oh darn! I missed that, haha. Thanks!
