**Stanford 2019 Deferred REA Applicants**

Hello Everyone, I’m just curious about whether you have a Stanford ID or a Common App ID showing on the top left hand corner of your defer letter. Would you mind to share? Thanks.

I do. Why?

Stanford ID or Common App ID?

I have a Common App ID. Why?

Same- common app. Why? And how about you?

Common App ID, too!

Thank you for sharing. Common App ID too. I noticed from last year thread for 2018 REA Defer that some of them had their Stanford ID to create a SUNet ID and were able to check a day before the regular decision results came out at the end of March last year. I don’t know if Stanford changes this year since they probably found out from the CC thread that
REA defer people were able to check their RD results before the results came out in the emails. That’s the reason why I would like to confirm with everyone to see what type of id we have on our defer letter this year.

Oh wow that’s not a bit stressful  thank you for sharing!

Eh, it’s just a day.

Has anyone seen any numbers for amount of us deferred? Not that it really makes a huge difference, I’m just a curious girl :)

@Govgirl It doesn’t look like they released the numbers, but it has generally been 500-600 students every year. So, we’re a relatively small group (especially when you compare us to those deferred by Princeton or Harvard)!

I feel so special :p

@emenya We also have a higher acceptance rate than those who apply RD! (15% vs. 3-5%) :stuck_out_tongue:

Since I have noticed so many requests/questions relating to “what to do when deferred”…let me refer you to Stanford’s specific instructions (Optional Update Form)…what to do and what NOT to do…
http://admission.stanford.edu/extras/decision/optional_update/index.html

And you may want to read this reaffirming article from the Stanford Daily about “deferred gratification”…
http://www.stanforddaily.com/2013/03/06/deferred-gratification/
Hope this helps. Think positive and continue to do your thing!

The numbers are in… 562 people were deffered this year. If the statistic of 15% stands true, only about 84 of those will be admitted.

Good luck everyone.

If we submit our optional update form at the end of February is there a chance our file will already have been read again, thus negating the submission of the form in its entirety?

I call dibs on spot #1 of those 84 spots :stuck_out_tongue:

@emenya‌ As long as I get one of those spots, I won’t care which one haha. Let’s just all get them

Here’s the Stanford Daily link that shows it was updated on Jan. 4th to include the number of students that were deferred (562):
http://www.stanforddaily.com/2014/12/12/743-early-applicants-accepted-to-stanfords-class-of-2019/

Feel fortunate and honored that you were selected as the privileged few applicants that will receive additional attention during the admission committee meetings. Good luck to all.

@DL43516‌ yes that’s what I’m wondering, as well!
