Does this myth apply to the portals of other schools as well?

The myth is there. It’s equally a fallacy elsewhere.

My kid got in as REA 3 or 4 years ago as Int’l Relations interested applicant. He was just a pretty intelligent kid (even though he’s my kid, I would not say he is exceptionally brilliant in any area) with pretty good ECs (but no big awards). Decent GPA and test scores (nothing exceptional); but from what I could tell, his essays were very good and revealing (even though he’s not a great writer), and he usually comes across as a likable person. Many non-exceptional but just regular smart kids who tried very hard get accepted into Stanford and Harvard type of colleges. My honest feeling is that getting into colleges is just as much about selling yourself as your intelligence or achievements. Do I think my kid deserved to get into Stanford or Harvard? Yes, I do because he’s a very nice and responsible kid who works diligently and has done pretty ok at Stanford academically. But I don’t think he will start some amazing company or anything, but he’s still amazing person imo. Anyway, having to study online at home makes any difference between top colleges and other colleges pretty non-existent imo.

I’ve heard 20%-25%.

@anon45019500 I’m not quite sure where you are getting “very small” from… in previous years it has been shown that deferral to acceptance rate is significantly higher than RD acceptance rate.

Applying for RD and submitted my application last week. Will I receive the interview after RD’s deadline or before?

You’ll get your interview after RD’s deadline

Has anyone heard back from Stanford or got an interview invitation?

@kayskaka

I think asking REA kids might not get you a good response. Since they applied back in November ish, they should have already had their interviews and their decision. If they have a Stanford RD thread, I would ask there

My kid did. We are in New England.

@Johnnysickens , I am a domestic student who has double legacy at Stanford. I applied REA but didn’t get in. If Stanford is the right place for you, transferring is an option.

Yeah man but I am an international student and I can’t spend a single penny on my education due to my financial situation, is there any hope for me ?

We are in the same boat or my boat is actually sinking… I have long educational gap.

No way your boat is sinking man, you just need to steer it in the right direction.

Trying to do that since last year and then corona happened. So i feel like my stats not good enough.

Non-binary Gender fluid person

120 on duo-lingo

Essay- personal story about survival (8/10)
LOR- 9/10

Member of an affiliation which looks over the queer right activists called Queer Right Collective
Full time work in my grandfather’s farm since 2013(family responsibility)

Has anyone who was admitted REA gotten the acceptance box or does that come along with the regular admissions timing?

There’s not much physical mail this year due to the pandemic. We got a personal note from Stanford AdCom via email and were told that Stanford will be mailing a welcome gift closer to Admit Weekend timeframe.

Ok. Daughter got the same (personalized) note and later a phone call, during which they said add a shipping address. So wasn’t clear what or when was expected to be mailed.

this makes me a tad hopeful; I am practically full time dual enrolled (I take math at the highschool.) and I was worried about how Stanford would view my academic rigor.

thanks!
