I was talking to a former Stanford admissions officer a while back( she left this year) and she said that the early pool is significantly stronger than the regular pool, and that often times they defer students only to find that the regular pool is a lot weaker in general. I think that was kind of repetitive...hope it made sense! :)

Interesting...I've read that many schools, including Stanford, accept more students EA. Why? Because the chance of you going there is so much higher... In essence, it's like a one-time trump card. In fact, there's a whole book on this with statistics and all written by a number of prominent college admission officers just dedicated to EA and RD and ED. I got in EA...I'm not too confident I could get in RD....

If someone gets their RD decision, can they please post the date on their letter so that those of us who haven't received it yet will have some kind of ETA?

How long does it take for the letters to arrive? I Live in CA

which part of California?

Northern, suburb or metropolitan: One day or Two (the former is more likely)

Northern, rural: One day or Two (50%)

Central, suburb: haha, am I kidding myself? Central CA is quite rural. A day or two with the latter being more likely

SoCal: one/two/three days depending on location

Imperial County and San Diego: two/three days

I'm from central CA, i go to a small rural type high school so i guess for me it would probably be 1-2 days then :)

I live in LA and it took 2 days to get my acceptance letter from Stanford.

Ooooooh that gives me hope then.

Does anyone else think it's kinda funny that some people are getting their admissions decisions on April Fool's Day?

"It is my priviledge to inform you that your application for admissions to Stanford University has been accepted.

...APRIL FOOLS! Man, did you really think you had a chance? We really got you there."

Yeah that would suck hardcore.

Hahaha...

It would be funny though...sorta...after I bawl.
