Stanford Admitted Students Facebook Page

Hey everyone, I haven't received my decision email from Stanford yet (I'm calling tomorrow). I tried to join the facebook page to see if I got accepted or not, and I was declined by the admin AdmitWeekend. My question is how did you all join the facebook page? How would the admin know if I was accepted or not? I find it hard to believe that the admin would have a list of admitted students while accepting/declining people who are trying to join the facebook group, but who knows. I'm asking this today because I'm way too anxious, and I want to know what to expect when I finally receive my email tomorrow. Thanks!

I asked to join after I went to the admitted students page on Stanford’s website, and the Admin let me in.

The person who regulates the Facebook page, “AdmitWeekend” actually does seem to have access to which kids were accepted and which were rejected. That’s the only way I would figure they would know who to accept and who to reject.

They probably only have our names, and nothing else, though.

So did you guys join from the admitted students page on Stanford’s website? Or did you just login to facebook and ask to join the group? I just find it odd that the AdmitWeekend would take the time to look up everyone’s names before accepting them, especially at a quick pace, but I’m just trying to find a way that I could be accepted come Monday.

On the email, when you’re accepted, a link is given to you for Accepted Students.
From there, you enter a…sort of special website for Admitted Students detailing Admit Weekend, life on Campus, academic life at Stanford, and a link for Networking with other Admitted students.

From there, a FB link is given to the “The Official Stanford Class of 2017 Admits” group. Then I just clicked “Join Group” and waited for AdmitWeekend to approve me (which he/she did in a few minutes). I hope this clears things up, @ND2017.

Ok thanks a lot! So it’s possible that AdmitWeekend knows if you’ve been on the Admitted Students website and clicked on the link, but it’s also possible that the admin has a list of admitted students. I’ll just have to wait until tomorrow :(

Any other opinions?

ND2017, if u’re request was denied it is most likely that you have not been accepted. Sorry :(

Yeah… I’m just hoping that the admin pressed the wrong button
Looks like I’ll be heading to WUSTL!

You’d be incorrect; AdmitWeekend does not know you’ve been on the Admitted Students site. Rather, AdmitWeekend has a list of students who have been accepted and cross checks as such - I know people that have had to change their “nicknames” to their official names in order to get into the group.

If your request was denied, either you were not accepted, or your name didn’t make it onto the list until your email got through; probably the former, unfortunately :/

Makes sense. I’ll let you guys know tomorrow. Maybe I’ll be on the waitlist! Haha

Good luck. WUSTL is still an incredible school. I was rejected there. :P

Want to switch acceptances? :P
