Hi guys, just a quick question: does this include cousins? I have a cousin at the law school and I'm just wondering if I should put her down? I know this probably won't give me any advantage at all, but I just wanna be sure. Thanks!

I’m pretty sure they just want direct relatives (grandparents, parents, siblings), but it doesn’t hurt to list I suppose. I heard my admissions officer say that Stanford will only take legacy status into account if you are tied with another applicant, so don’t place too much stock in it.

Maybe I’m just ignorant pewpewpew, but what do you mean when you say “Stanford will only take legacy status into account if you are tied with another applicant” ???

I mean that the only time legacy will give you a bump is if you are tied neck-and-neck with another student for acceptance. In other words, legacy status is not really a hook at stanford and a weak or average applicant will not be pulled aboard by legacy
