The newest members of the common application are: University at Albany (SUNY), Augsburg College (MN), Augustana College (IL), Augustana College (SD), Berry College (GA), Colorado State University, University of Dayton (OH), Emerson College (MA), Franklin Pierce College (NH), Illinois Institute of Technology, Keystone College (PA), List College (NY), Meredith College (NC), University of New Haven, (CT), Old Dominion University (VA), Olin College of Engineering (MA), Pacific University (OR), Quinnipiac University (CT), Stanford University (CA), Stockton College (NJ), Thiel College (PA), Thomas College (ME), Westminster College (UT).

Isn't the University of Chicago also joining the common app. ?

The one that jumps out at me is Stanford...But I'm sure they'll have a significant supplement.

Emory has been part of the common app. Atleast this year they were. This now leaves Columbia, Georgetown (who still uses only paper apps), and Brown as top privates not on the common app.

Right you are about Emory! My eyes are playing tricks on me of late - Emerson is on the newly added list not Emory. Stanford now joins UPenn and Caltech as well as Northwestern as common app. members.

Of course they do this after I apply. It is nice though. One thing I wish you could do is send scores to common app, so you don't have to pay the $10-20 per school. Paying someone to enter the scores would be cheaper I bet.

It would be incredible if there were something like the College Board's IDOC system for teacher recommendations, transcripts, etc.

I don't think MIT accepts the Common App either.

Oh great, they join the year I go into college. ****.

ugh I'm pretty sure my essays would have been better if they had common app to begin with...

but then again I applied early and then I changed my essays for the better after I got rejected.

lol looks like Olin wants to attract a few more lazy engineers who only use commonapp...

"Isn't the University of Chicago also joining the common app. ?"

I can't imagine U of Chicago joining, considering the name of their app, is the "uncommon application"

"I don't think MIT accepts the Common App either."

They don't.

No, badman is right. Chicago is switching to the Common App, with the essays being part of the supplement.

University of Chicago officials say they will start to accept the common app. in two years - and the quirky, quintessential uncommon questions will still be an important part of the application. (you can bet they will come up with an interesting supplement in order not to succumb to the "homogenization" of higher ed.) Btw,the University of Chicago is not listed among the members of the common app. - as of yet because they only just filed for membership in December of 2006.

Dang! To think that I did the separate app for Stanford... O.o

I hear that starting soon, ALL the common app. stuff (including all the recommendations, transcripts, and midyear reports and crap) will be possible to send electronically--the only thing the student needs to send by physical mail would be financial documentations, and maybe in the near future even that would become electronic.

noooo! Stanford had the best app ever!

Are they (Stanford) likely to move their deadline?

Rawrr, that annoys me. I dislike the common app, and plan on applying to Stanford. bljasd09

Does any one know if they're using the common app exclusively?

I doubt it - NU just switched last year or maybe two years ago, and they still have an exclusive app. What don't you like about the common app?! You can do it via paper and send whatever you want - easy!
