Stanford & Berkeley SAT scores?

^^ you revived an old thread for a very generic question like that? If you did a little searching, you'd've found the answer easily on the Berkeley site.

You need two SAT IIs for any UC. For Berkeley, try to shoot for 700+, though if you don't quite make that, it's fine.

thanks. i'm a freshman so i'm trying to learn all about this. my highest on the practice test was a 590, which i know isn't really good, but better then my friends and my friends are smart :D anyway, i'll be back w/ more questions. bye.

"For Berkeley, get a weighted GPA over 4.2, and SATs over 2050 and you're in."

If I have no strong ECs, but can get/maintain around that score and weighted gpa, can I get into Berkeley?

Or does Berkeley emphasize ECs a lot too?

anyone????

bumpppp......

bumpppppp..

stanford and berkerly are a lot diff.
i got in berk engineering 2230, 780 770 and president of a few clubs, etc
didnt get in stanford tho

i have a feeling that you go to lynbrook
with the sound of the "red, white and blue award" and the drafting class

nvm just confirmed on facebook....
aren't you an junior now? not sophomore...

i heard about you and korsunsky's final
p.s nevermind you posted it LAST year...

This discussion is so helpful...thank you all for your info. Below is a case study for how you suggest I approach my last two years of high school...:-)
I have 700 sat score on math, writing, 600 on reading(will take SAT again) 4.5 weighted GPA, but lots of EC, and as an incoming junior I think I may need to be more focused with only a few of my EC.
I am a SAG eligible actress, and model with Elite, a 5'11" tall club and HS volleyball player, co-founding member of non-profit, political intern for my state's governor, won an AFS scholarship and am studying in Argentina this summer, various school awards, been on two "kids boards of directors" for two national companies-was awarded $5000 for contribution of creative marketing ideas, published writer, musical theater, mission trips with church, etc, etc, My dream is to major advertising, since I have been doing it in one way or another since I was 5 years old.
My questions are:
Do you think I have a shot at Stanford, UCLA and what other universities would you recommend for an innovative advertising curriculum? Also, shall I focus in only a few of these ECs?
Thank you so, so much!!

Sorry to revive this awfully OLD thread. I know.
But I have the same question, and I see that a lot of people say that Berkeley takes in 2050. My question is will stanford take in people with such scores. As for the extra-curr I’m covered: Amnesty International Initiator and Leader in my school, Interact Rotary club chairperson, prefect, house captain, Duke of Edinburg Award, etc, etc… I don’t think that would be the problem. I’m talking more about the actual SAT score - if I have a good GPA (don’t really know how that works, but I have good IB scores) and a good CV with lots of extra-curricular activities like the above, would it still be reasonable to apply to stanford with a score of, for example, 2050?

Again, sorry for reviving this old thread

Dude, If you really want to go to Berkley or Stanford, stop looking for just extra things to put on your resume. If you do things just because you think it makes you look good or because it sounds fancy…the admissons board will see right through you. They have gone through hundreds of thousands of applications and every single one is full of kids trying to sounds ten times more amazing than they actually are. If your application just lists a whole bunch of things that you think makes you look like an “over achiever” they will just throw your app away. I klnow it sucks… because you could really be an over achiever… but they don’t interpret a long list of activities the same way.

If you want them to notice you, you have to do something your passionate about. Not just “another thing”. If you show your passionate about something and work hard with it, Stanford will want you a lot more as oppossed to a kid who just randomely signed up for everything. Passion takes people a lot farther in life, and that’s what Stanford is looking for

should i even list x country and track as extracurricular if i did in 1 year in 10th gradee…

This conversation you started was posted in 2006, & now its 5 years later. I was wondering, your grades sound excellent and I would like to know what your SAT scores were & what UC you ended up going to. I’m currently a freshmen & I want to know what my goals should be to get into a UCLA, Berkeley, Stanford, UC Davis. I’d like to know which EC should I be doing to get into one of these schools. Thank you so much. (:

According to the College board web site, it says that the SAT requirement marks for going to Stanford are…like 87% which is about 2088… is it true?? Do I have to get the minimum of 2088 to go to Stanford??

If you’re unhooked, even if you have great ECs and grades, you probably need at least a 2250 to be competitive at Stanford, but idk.

I want to get into Stanford as well, I’m a Junior with like a 4.5 GPA and I dunno about the PSAT. I went to Governor School in Tennessee for International Studies. Im debate captain and a justice on the Model UN Supreme Court. Im taking 6 APs. Last year I took 3.

The lower quarter of Stanford students have SATs below 2000, more or less. And, I think about 30% of Berkeley students have the same SAT score.
