Stanford China Scholars Program

Kid was accepted. Has anyone done this program? It’s relatively new. We’re trying to explain it to the school guidance counselor. I’m wondering if the format includes completion of a paper by December, or if you attend the lectures through December and then write the paper afterwards. Also, it sounds like it’s graded? There is not much description on line about the details. Anyone who participated last year, information would be greatly appreciated.

@Skrunch, I’d be interested in more information about this program, too. It certainly sounds like a unique opportunity. Although there is no language requirement, is K fluent in Mandarin? Has K committed to the program?

Yes. K has committed. Not fluent but long time study—but it doesn’t seem this is required. Feel free to PM me in January and I’ll provide a summary.

@Skrunch , do you mind sending me a summary ?

@Skrunch, could you please send me a summary? I am very interested in applying to the program. Thank you!

Is anyone else applying for this program?

My kid really enjoyed the program. Kid indicated it took about 3-5 hours a week including class time. That does not count the time spent on the final paper—which takes a lot of time. Great class.

Can I message anybody about this program? I’m applying for it this year and really hope I get in! I know it’s competitive, but I’m wondering how much!
