Stanford College App essay

Hey all, I am trying to get this Stanford essay down. For the long essay I'm thinking about doing the second one about something meaningful that someone has expressed to you in some way. How should I approach this, I was thinking about talking about this really good philosphical book I read. But that would merely illustrate my thoughts/opinions. Is that good enough?

Ok, I applied to Stanford in December 2005, and here's a list of things you should consider when writing an essay like that.

Think about all of the people in your life that you have taken a note of in your head. They don't necessarily have to vocally say something meaningful. Have the actions, feelings, or thoughts of another person made even the slightest impact on you? Friends, teachers, family, coaches, classmates/teammates/cast members, employers, camp couselors, etc.

Are there any well-known people that have done, written or said things that are important in your life? Scientists that have done meaningful research? Writers that have explored a topic that relates closely to you (this is where your book comes in).

Are your opinions/thoughts influenced by the opinions/thoughts of another person?

Maybe you should write an essay on the aspects of an opinion of yours or a position you take, and talk about how it has evolved over time. Talk about the people and their ideas that have shaped your ideas. Talk about if you still think certain people are important to you as much as others.

I hope this helps,

hey thanks, that actually does help a lot.
