I would just call them and ask about the status of your FA. I'm going to have to track down the title of that philosophy book (because you are going to want to use it).

My daughter said I had the title wrong. She said it was something like: How to Think and Write about Philosophy. When I get the exact title, I'll post it.

I apologize for not getting you the title of the book. My daughter has an excerpt of it in a notebook, and when we scoured it, we couldn't find the title. She does not remember the exact title, and neither do we.

I would simply call the school, ask for the contact info of the core teacher, and write him, and ask. It's called something like Reading and Writing Philosophy or Reading and Understanding Philosophy.

I believe my daughter may have one more office hour with the teacher, and if she does, I'll have her get the title of the book.

Ryanone: Your past comments about EPGY are very helpful. You have indicated that the courses (and grading) are quite rigorous. We have a question, if you are able to help. With respect to the time period provided for particular courses (ie 16 weeks), do you know whether it's reasonable to try to complete the course in less time (ie 10 weeks) - this question relates particularly to the AP Physics courses.

The courses cannot be completed in 10 weeks because you have online real time classes you have to attend, and assignments that are given out by the teachers.

Sorry this took so long, but we just heard back from the teacher. The book you are going to want to read and do all of the exercises for the DFRL class is "Thinking and Writing about Philosophy" by Hugo Bedua

My son recently made it to EPGY OHS and will begin this fall. We intend to go part-time for the first two years, complementing this program with home-schooling and other activities. I was curious about how many hours the children typically spend in front of a computer each day if they are on a
(a) part-time load
(b) full-time load.

I am trying to learn as much as I can about the courses and overall OHS experience. I'd really appreciate information about these.

I got an e-mail about EPGY OHS. I was kind of curious about taking a single course [I was thinking Philosophy], but I'm already taking 4 AP classes at my real school for my junior year. It seems most others are home-schooled. OHS is a bad idea for me, then?

^My friend has the same situation. He is taking 4 AP classes his junior year and wants to know if he should do the EPGY OHS thing for one class? I usually give advice to my friends about college but I don’t know what to tell him in this situation.

Can anyone tell me if the online high school gives generous financial aid? Because I really would like to apply, but I really can not afford it. Thanks

how hard is it to get into? i really want to apply, but i’ve heard that it’s extremely difficult to get into and you need to have outstanding extracurriculars and the application also needs a lot of essays, etc.

(It seems as though I always wander around on the Web and end back on CC in my research.)

I would be very thankful if anybody has any info at all regarding the FA at Stanford EPGY (or any other online high school). EPGY is probably the most rigourous available, the usual college concerns associated with an online diploma are much alleviated, and overall I think it’d be the best for me personally.

I am really groping in the dark here- scrambling to find other options after M10, with many “unconventional” schools (physical/online, public/private: seems like EVERYTHING imaginable) past admission deadlines. That’s not exactly what I’m worried about- there are enough ones that aren’t or on rolling- but as usual for me, FA is barring the way. Any info concerning that would be much appreciated.
