I've been accepted to Stanford, Northwestern, Columbia, and UT-Austin and I'm really interested in doing something in tv/film & communications and maybe something in economics/business.

I know Northestern and Columbia are amazing for film studies, but I didn't get much money from them.....so they're probably out of the picture.

How is the film program at Stanford? I know the one at UT is more recognized, but I feel like it would be really hard to turn down Stanford. Does you college film degree really matter much once you graduate, or would the school recognition of "Stanford" be more important.

Please help!

answer the man’s question-- i’d like to know this, too!

If you can find a way to get Northwestern or Columbia to match Stanford’s financial aid offer then you should definitely consider going to one of them, I think. I don’t know much about Stanford’s film department. I’m sure it’s probably good, but it’s not really what Stanford’s known for.

Do you happen to know if program your film degree is from really matters in the undustry though? I’ve heard it really doesn’t but I’m not sure…

And do you happen to know if it’s easy to have Columbia or Northwestern match offers? Columbia said I could email them Stanford’s offer, but it would take about a week to here back. NW flat out said it probably wouldn’t do that though.

Hey…it’s been a while since this thread has been active, but if anyone has anything to say about the mentioned schools (stanford, columbia, northwestern…) and also maybe washington university and vanderbilt and vassar about their undergrad film, it would be greatly appreciated.
