Stanford for the nonathletic

Hey, so I've narrowed my college choice to my top two, Stanford and Rice. Both are good fits and I have equal finaid packages at both schools, so I've been researching a lot to help my decision. One thing I've been wondering about is how Stanford is for people who don't do sports or keep up with them at all. I've heard so much about Stanford's athletics, so I was wondering: is this is the main focus of campus life? This probably seems like a weird question, but I go to a high school where athletics is the primary focus, and it's a pain for the people who aren't really into those things. So would a girl who doesn't have much interest in sports fit into such a sports-y community? Thank you :)

D, a freshman, is not a huge sports fan but does go to a lot of the sporting events with her friends. They are exciting even for people who don’t even know the rules or the purpose. She went to all the football home games so she could get tickets for the Stanford vs Cal game. She’s been having a good time and still doesn’t know any of the rules. She doesn’t feel that sports or athletics is focus of the school. She is unbelievably happy at Stanford.
