I heard Stanford doesn't do as many interviews as the other top colleges do. Is that true? Is it possible to find out which regions do have interviews?

Where are alumni interviews offered?

For the 2011–12 admission cycle the Office of Undergraduate Admission will offer an optional alumni interview to applicants attending high school in the following areas: Atlanta, Denver, New York City, Philadelphia, Raleigh-/Durham, Washington DC, the states of Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Oregon and Virginia, as well as Ireland and much of the UK including London.

New interview locations will be added over the next several years.

i find it suprising that CA is not on there :P

Stanford is piloting interviews for the 2011-12 year just as stated above. For whatever reason, they elected not to pilot in CA–probably because the most applicants come from here. Remember, it’s a great tool to involve alumni and nice for candidates to learn more about the university, but it’s not like an interview is going to make up for lousy grades, test scores, ECs etc. Focus on those!
