Phew! that's a lot to type. Thanks for reading through all of it. I will be happy to chance back if you just leave the web address to your chancing page :)

You’ve made like 10 of these…And I thought I was overdoing my chance threads! :P

Haha, sorry! I keep altering the schools I’m applying to as I find out more about them and attend their information sessions. I don’t mean to be annoying or anything. Would there be an easier way to post my new school options for people to judge without reposting all my stats? Sorry, I truly don’t mean to have so many threads and I’m sure it’s annoying to reread the same thing…I just don’t know a different way to get chances on a new college list.

You’re fine but my point is that you already have sufficient scores (could be better but sufficient) and your EC is over-the-top so why bother with chance threads? Honestly, you are one of the more qualified candidates for these schools and no one’s chance is going to change that. In fact, 90% of the people on these chance threads are simply giving an assumption (why else would they post their own chance threads?). Just calm down, sip a beer (or non-alcoholic beverage of your choice), and watch other kids panic as they try to catch up to you. Don’t worry, you are already the cream of the crop.

Well thank you very much! I’m just one of those people who would regret not doing everything I can to perfect application so I like to get other people’s opinions so they can help me point out any flaws while I still have a chance to change them.

Sorry, once again about all the threads. I’ll try to calm down a bit, sip a non-alcoholic beverage of my choice, and relax. :)

Good choice! Maybe I’ll see you at Harvard, UChic, Yale, Duke, or Case! I’m applying to those as well.

I hope so. I’ll be the kid that’s jumping rope! haha

Relaaaax, you’ll get in quite easily.
To be perfectly honest, you’re jump rope ability will get you in - it’s something unique, so the colleges will want you , for sure !
You’re academics are pretty decent too, so just relax
I hope you get in !

And would you mind taking a look at mine , and telling me what my chances are?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1194004-what-my-chances-stanford-berkeley.html

Dude, that’s ****ing awesome…

Jumping rope isn’t what will get you in- it’s that you devoted yourself to it and achieved, PLUS taught kids, did vol work, worked at the museum, tutored, Quiz Bowl, music, etc.

But: * would regret not doing everything I can to perfect application* Be careful not to obsess. Adcoms value a sense of perspective. It’s not all about driving yourself to perfection. You have the goods- and offer geograpic diversity. Write a great essay.

-ling/neuro: have any ECs related to this? Ever use your music at school (accompanying, orchestra, etc) or in the community?

Missfuntastic94 - thanks. I’ll be sure to look over your application

Samonuh - f****** thank you

Lookingforward -
Linguistic related ECs
-International Lang and Culture Club
-Self-studying Italian, French, and Spanish.
-considering founding a Basque Lang club next year…Would this help?

Neurobiology/science related ECs
-Tutor Kids in AP Bio and Chem
-Volunteer at Science Museum
-Captain of Science and Math Quiz Bowl

In terms of piano, I haven’t don’t anything with the school, but I do play at retirement homes ever now and then.

Are these enough related ECs? I want to try to show passion because I know how important it is. But, I haven’t done any research or anything. Will this be that big of a detriment to my application?

But, what does the lang club do?? Adcoms know many clubs are get-togethers- and conveniently meet at school, around classes; how is yours different? Basque club- same issue. Think about it. Self-studying is good, but also needs some measure- were you able to take Sat2’s or AP’s? I’m not saying be nuts, just remember an adcom only knows you from your app. You are on the right track. L/N research or vol work just isn’t as available to many kids as working at a hosp is for a pre-med.

I am with MITChrs on the sideways thing- just saying that when a number of sideways kids are lined up, you want to look good.

Your STATS are simply out of this world.A perfect essay is the only knockout punch that you need.I’d say you have great shot at landing on any ivy.

You’re basically famous dude; you have one of the best chances out of anyone here. My only advice is to send in your ACT score unless you break 2250 on your retake. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe a 34 ACT = 2250 SAT. Aside from that minor detail, good luck and have fun at Stanford (if that remains your first choice by application time).

@lookingforward
What exactly should I try to do in my club or what are colleges looking for in terms of involvement. For international club, I have plans with the coordinator to start a program to nominate a representative from each country. This group would then organize an extra day each week to discuss plans to figure out activities. I’ll probably also start a “phrase of the week” idea, where each week we learn a phrase in the different languages that are present. Good idea? Or should I have more in terms of linguistic passion?

Thank you! I’ve been working on my essays quite a bit. Probably make my common app essay about jump rope (possibly about my coach) and try to tie in the difficulties of competing in a sport that’s highly stereotyped.

Also, I highly doubt my language skills in French, Spanish, or Italian are ready for an SATII let alone an AP. I took French I during sophomore year and started self studying it for the past 3-months. Spanish, I’ve never taken a class in and have self studied the past 3 months. And Italian, I’ve never taken a class in but I have self studied for probably the past 9 months or so.

Tell Andrew Luck I said Hi :D

You already have an impressive read. It’s just that clubs don’t always do anything. They are reactive rather than proactive. I’ll pm you later tonight.

Who exactly is Andrew Luck? Haha

And thank you Lookingforward!!

You’re in at most of these schools.
