So does UChicago: http://uncommonapplication.blogspot.com/

Who doesn't learn a thing or two from mit ;)!

Harvard Doesn's.. although its so close

sorry, i may be "a bit" (lol) stupid but i dont get this topic. what did they learn from MIT?

These other schools made a site for adcoms or students to post stuff about the school (blogs)... MIT was the first to do this (I think)

It's a good thing. but boy would it be entertaining if we got territorial.

I understand that - after consulting with adcoms at University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh campus - MIT has decided to send out their EA rejections with first class postage next year.

beprepn

MIT's blogs are a lot more personal and have their own flairs.

We try. =D

Just out of curiosity, and in the interest of constant personal improvement, does everybody feel that more personal is better? What kinds of things do you like to read in our blogs? What could we improve?

I like the blogs as they are -- personal is good. If I want objective, I visit the MIT website itself.

I also think personal is better. Nothing like hearing it from a person who actually studies there. It's just much more interesting to experience it from a student's perspective. I like to hear all about what the students are doing and how they're spending their time and what they think about the MIT experience.

Improve? Hmm... more pictures, perhaps? ;)

MIT's blogs have evolved quite a bit over the 14 months or so I've been reading them, (more posters, more student posters, more readers leaving comments, more photos, more stuff not strictly related to admissions). Colleges that are just starting blogs now will certainly take some time to find their own style.

Personal is da way to go.

olin has an admissions blog too. is anyone else here applying to olin?

"olin has an admissions blog too. is anyone else here applying to olin?"

I was thinking about it, but they have no math or physics majors. :(

The 300-word response for Olin's app is almost worded exactly the same way as the 100-word response for MIT, although it is a pretty common question to ask. Anywho, I am applying also, and hoping to get at least into candidate's weekend.

Any of you who are applying to Olin should check out our forums at xforums (google 'olin' 'xforums'). A lot of current Olin students read those forums so it's a great place to ask any questions you have.
