Stanford, MIT and Top IVY transfer

Hi guys!

I am currently considering to transfer to the school I listed above Right now I am studying in Harvey Mudd College and have a startup project that is on-going.

Just wonder how hard is to transfer to these schools? I know it is pretty hard to give a answer, but I just want to know why it is so hard.

It might be hard to transfer into your schools of tentative interest for the same reason that it would be exceptionally hard to transfer into Harvey Mudd. In HMC’s case, the acceptance rate for transfer applicants falls at a scant 7%. If your listed schools are similar, this would present a significant challenge for most applicants.

I just wonder what makes the transfer process into the IVY league or Stanford so hard. Is it because of cc student and veteran?

Lots of reasons, including that their classes are currently full. Read some of the other recent transfer threads about tippy tops. It takes a LOT more than wanting to transfer from one great college to another. You need a solid reason. You need to have something THEY want. That’s more than doing well at your present school. More than having certain career hopes. Much more than wanting them.

This is not the open field that undergrad admissions is.

It is hard because their business model involves taking very few transfer students. In some cases, specific types of students are targeted for transfer admissions (e.g. Stanford appears to target non-traditional students).
