What's the average GPA and GRE score to get into Stanford's MS Computer Science program? I know research usually doesn't matter for a terminal MS, this still the case at Stanford?

I have a 3.78 GPA and on the GRE Q:800 V:680 AW:5.0 (old scoring format).

Let's say my recommendations are solid but not exceptional, and I'm coming from a good regional university but it isn't known outside of the mid-atlantic area.

Do my numbers give me a realistic shot at Stanford's MS CS program?

No one knows, you seem like an average applicant. Graduate school admissions aren’t as much of a numbers game as undergraduate admissions are. That’s because everyone applying to top programs will have very similar numbers.

Thus, based on your stats alone I would say your chances to get in aren’t very high. You could probably drastically improve your application by:
- Having excellent recommendations, not merely “solid” ones.
- Research experience. Event though it’s a terminal program that’s not research-focused, having research experience would definitely give you a leg up.
- A great statement of purpose

thanks for the input. I am just trying to determine if my numbers put me in a good position compared to the numbers they accept, aside from the other qualitative admissions stuff.
