Stanford or Harvard or full ride to UNC?

So

Stanford for $36k a year (with financial aid)
Harvard for $32k a year (also including financial aid)
or UNC CH for $0 a year (tuition, room, board, books, and fees)

Interests: Political Science, Creative Writing
Career Plans: probably a lawyer, but I'd like to write for the New Yorker or Esquire
My parents are able to pay for S or H, but not comfortably

What would you do?
What do you think I should do?

go harvard!

this suggestion is not at all influenced by my position on the waitlist, either… :)

Replace the Morehead with Robertson for your case.

The UNC offer sounds incredible. I would go for that, then shoot for a top law school.

UNC full ride + ~$144k in my pocket (or your parents pockets) > Harvard or Stanford degree. Save the money for law school.

Visit all three! It might make the decision easier.

Personally, I would not take the UNC deal. But that’s mainly because I’m from NC, and like everyone I know is going to UNC. >_>

Between Harvard and Stanford… that’s tough. From a monetary point of view $4000 less at Harvard can count for a lot, but then you have to cope with the weather and other factors.

Whatever you choose, all three are great schools, and you can’t really go wrong with any of 'em.

I just had to comment because your profile is uncannily identical to mine… the only difference is that I was waitlisted at both instead of accepted. envious :D

Anyway, from what I can tell Morehead is an amazing opportunity; most kids I know offered similar scholarships choose them over Ivy offers. Stanford does have some kind of program for those interested in creative writing that seems pretty cool, and both H and S would have amazing PoliSci departments I’m sure. It’s a matter of what your priorities are, I guess.

btw I didn’t win the morehead or the robertson, I’ve just been offered a full scholarship, so I woudn’t have access to the special facilities, summer opportunities etc.

A full ride to UNC sounds amazing!! i agree that u should save the money for law school. :D
