STANFORD OR WHARTON FOR SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Wharton would seem to be the obvious choice to jump start a career in this field, but worried that its finance focus might overwhelm this particular study. Anyone else considering this area?

Stanford has a much more entrepreneurial vibe than Wharton (think Old Money = Wharton, New Money = Stanford). If you want to get into finance (investment banking, private equity, management consulting, etc.) Wharton is your best bet but if you want to create a start-up or become an entrepreneur, Stanford would serve you better. At the end of the day, don’t think you can go wrong with either choice but the two schools have very different vibes.

Thank you. Do you have any thoughts about the opportunities at Harvard? I have discarded Yale and Brown thinking Yale is not quite the right mindset and Brown comes at it from a more social, less business way.
