I am going to be going to UC irvine this fall as a bio chem major. My goal is to become a general pediatrician!

I want to know:

How hard is it to get into Stanford's medical school if i were to go to irvine for my undergraduate?

What would it take for me to have a competitive application for Stanford's med school?

to be competitive you are going to need:
3.7+ GPA
High MCATS (35+ I think gets you into the competitive category)
Lots of Clinical Work
Interships
Research Hours
Free Lanch volunteering at hospitals etc. (some i know did Doctors without boarders, she is currently being stipened to go to harvard med)
Good People skills (interviewing)
A hook: publishings, D1 sports team, Doctors without boarders (as mentioned above), something to make you stand out among all the others with the same stats applying to those med schools

believe me, you will be applying to many more schools than just stanford

Would it be better if i went to irvine or would it be better if i went to a community college and transferred to a better known private university?

California medical schools overall are difficult to get in. The top schools are Stanford and UCSF. Stanford med is a top 5-10 program. Class size is only 85, compared to the more common 150-200. UCI is a fine school. Going to CC might hurt your chances.

Stanford, UCSF both ranked at #5
UCLA #13
UCSD #15

If I were a premed, I would be happy to get into any of these schools.

Lots of research for stanford, they gobble it up. Go where you want, OP, but stay away from CC’s if at all possible. Why not go to Irvine and then transfer if anything?
