Stanford Scores

I took the ACT got a 29 and retook and got a 29. I called the Admissions Office for Stanford and was told they focus on individual scores. Of the two tests the highest subscores are english 32, math 30, science 27, and reading 34. Should I take it again?

You are focusing on only one aspect of the application. A 29 ACT is well below the 25th percentile for accepted students. Your GPA, EC’s and essays would have to stand out to compensate for your low ACT score.

Does a 1500 SAT compensate for the ACT score?

As well as the other aspects of the application.

You posted earlier that you got a 1420 SAT.

It’s a hypothetical. I have a 750 math and on all the practice tests from the SAT book have been getting right around a 750 in English. So I was wondering if I did achieve the 1500, how my ACT would look.

Should have added probable before SAT. My mistake.

When did you take the ACT? Since Stanford asks for all scores of all tests, they presumably consider all the data in some fashion. I would say the longer ago you took the ACT, the less it will matter.

Are you a legacy, URM or have some other hook? What is your weighted and unweighted GPA/class rank? You need to be realistic about Stanford if you want to consider using your REA bullet there.
