What were your favorite events (e.g., performances, exhibits, sporting events, etc.) this past year?

So in addition to the imminent Olympics and (in the United States) the upcoming election, what else has happened in 2008?

What were your favorite events (e.g., performances, exhibits, sporting events, etc.) this past year?

So in addition to the imminent Olympics and (in the United States) the upcoming election, what else has happened in 2008?

UH, you really shouldn't put events that you didn't KNOW happened as your FAVORITE events.

It doesn't have to be something big. When I applied last year, I put more personal events.

I don't think I will be applying early action, so most likely by the time I apply these events will have happened. Currently I'm only making a list of events that will be happening/have happened this year and I figure whichever even I connect to best should be the one I should pick.

What do you mean by personal events?

Oh, sorry. I guess I made that connection because you asked for what has already "happened" in 2008.

As for personal events, I put things like getting my driver's license, going to this campfor the summer, our orchestra's concert, etc.

I also put some more "global" events such as meteor showers.

But really, it depends on you. It depends on what you liked! It doesn't have to be so big as the olympics if you don't like sports or the presidential election if you hate politics.

Of course, if you truly enjoyed events like those, by all means put them down :]

how long were your answers, fruti?? It mentions not answering in complete sentences (which helps), but what does it mean by "less than two lines?" As in, on a normal word processor?

I honestly don't remember (sorry).

However, I think there's a limit in the space alloted on the commonapp. I believe I went with that and made sure not to go over.

I put the Super Bowl

I think there was a character number limit

Agreed with Agent. I went with that.

Its a 300 character limit. By the way that my other short answers are going, its approximately 40 to 50 words in complete sentences. I've been answering in complete sentences because I personally think it looks and flows better.

Fruitiaspace, that makes sense and I'll try to think of some of those types of events in my own life too!

Should I rewrite so its not complete sentences? Is that better?

No, they only said it doesn't HAVE to be complete sentences. Not that you are required to.

I personally had some questions where I had complete sentences and some where I didn't.

Idk. I'm filling it out right now, and for me, the short answer section is not at all supposed to be "look at me! look at me! look how well I can write! look how smart I am!" There are other places for that on the app. So I think I'm going to intentionally answer in fragments because it allows for more personality to shine through.

I love this section to pieces! My news source and website answers are absolute gold hehehe

haha, good for you hookem :D

Lol. that's cool. My websites and news sources are very me so I like it. I suppose the most important point is to let our personality shine through and whatever way works best for us is the way to do it. For me paragraph style is comforting. :)

I'm not a big football fan(except for commercials) so the superbowl wouldn't rank very high but would the event of me watching a Broadway show recently work?

It would definitely work. You might want to give the name of the show to be more specific :D
