I want to study international affairs. All of these are top ranked schools in this area (and in general) and I've gotten in with good financial aid from all three. I've visited all three in some way--Stanford a campus tour and a lot of time spent in Palo Alto, SF, and San Jose; UChicago, a weekend on campus in the dorms and two days in the city; Georgetown, a week in the Georgetown area of DC and an afternoon wandering campus informally (they were on spring break when I was there). I liked them all, for different reasons. Stanford would be cheapest for my family and Georgetown most expensive, but none are too costly and all are loan-free.

I'm from Seattle, and I want to get away, but all three are sufficient for that. I have food allergies, but all three seem to have available food options for me in their dining halls. I want to be surrounded by intelligent people, have opportunities open to me after graduating, and be able to study abroad. All three are clear choices for that.

Help?

Depends on what you want to do. But if you want to make tracks in DC…

Georgetown will give you immediate access to the DC network. But more or less everyone in DC has a Georgetown connection so that’s hardly an “edge.” Stanford’s network is big but diffuse. Chicago’s is deep and may offer more network “loyalty” potential.

If you don’t care about DC and just want to learn stuff, well, gosh, I haven’t a clue.

It seems to me that Georgetown is the best fit for what you’re looking for.
Imo, I think that UChicago and Georgetown are the better of the three for international studies/international affairs. Georgetown has more connections in the D.C. area though. But if you want a strong international studies program coupled with extremely intelligent people, I think Chicago would be great for you. In fact, here as an International Studies major, you will be required to study abroad! :D

I definitely think UChicago and Georgetown are the best of the 3 choices for you… And to narrow it down to one, I think there’s several things to take into factor that have already been mentioned… DC probably has the best connections; however, UChicago’s study abroad program(s) are better… (at least that’s the impression I get from them)

Honestly though, I’d say go with your gut…If your gut is saying Georgetown is the best for you, go there… No matter which school you choose, I honestly think you’ll be fine…

Good luck making your decision!

If you’re sure you want to study international relations/affairs, Georgetown is the best known of the three for this subject.

Also, D.C.'s a pretty exciting place to be if you’re into that sort of thing. If I had to do it all over again, knowing myself as I do now, I probably would have gone to Georgetown.
