Hi, I’m taking a gap year and planning to apply to Stanford University with a major in Public Policy (concentration Education Policy). I would like to seek advice from people who have been admitted to this program, as I have heard from anyone.
I also appreciate advices from Stanford admits who major in something else. I have been admitted to the 9th, 21st and 22nd best Education school worldwide (UW - Madison, NYU & Penn State respectively) & am now aiming for the best Education school worldwide (Stanford). My GPA is 3.5, ACT 32 & I have done research, managed the only career education - related student organization in my country, created a website to share my experience learning 40+ different academic subjects, did 4 credit - granting courses in Education.
You are turning down three great universities in the hope of being admitted to Stanford after a gap year? Your GPA is low for Stanford although your country may compute it differently. Your ACT is also low for Stanford. You seem obsessed with rankings.
with a sub 5% admit rate - getting into Stanford is really unlikely for anyone. I expect this year will have an unusually high number of highly qualified (4.4 GPA/35 ACT) gap year applicants - making next year even more competitive. There is virtually nothing you could do in the next 12 months that’s going to change their mind about your ap If you go down this path, I think you are going to find yourself stuck again next year. Go to whichever of the schools that admitted you that you prefer the most.
good luck
