Stanford with a 32

Would a student with a great GPA, outstanding extra-curricular activities, and fantastic awards have any chance of getting into Stanford, Harvard, Yale (other ivies) with a 32 act?

The 25 percentile for these schools is usually 32 . . . but is that just athletes/legacies/other recruits ????

Please help

A 32 won’t wow anyone at Stanford, but it’ s likely good enough to give the rest of your application detailed consideration. GL

Yea that’s exactly what I was wondering…
If I don’t have an athletic or legacy hook will they even read my application, and consider me a potential student.

How great, outstanding, and fantastic are your other components? If they are ture up to Stanford’s definition of great, outstanding, and fantastic, not just yours, then your 32 should not cause any problem.

Stanford is your reach; what are your matches and safeties?

Here’s what I think goes on. Anyone with a solid GPA/Course schedule & Board scores will get a serious look. (not perfect but solid). Those that don’t have it will get quickly be sent to the holistic review pile where a junior admissions officer will spend a minimum amount of time, searching for untapped potential.

My opinion of solid is an honors curriculum or better, 3.70 GPA, and a 2100 SAT. It’s obviously not a guarantee of getting in, but in my opinion, enough to give your application serious consideration which is all you can ask for. GL

its possible
someone from my school got into Stanford with a 2080 or something a 31 ACt equivalent

I barely got a 33, not a legacy, athlete, or recruit and managed to get in. Your score won’t be a setback. Once you get into a certain range, schools like Stanford and MIT won’t care. Ivy leagues care about their perception for the most part, so your chances there might be lower. Stanford, however, cares more about your interests and how you have applied them throughout high school. As long as you show you’re devoted to something, you should be fine. Good luck.

Your admission officer will glance at your transcript and testing profile for about 20 seconds to see if you’re qualified to do the work at Stanford. With a 32, you’re certainly qualified assuming that your grades are solid. Top 10% of your class is ideal.

After that, your application will go on to a second reader, then to a subcommittee, and then maybe to the full committee. At this point in the process, they won’t really be considering your test scores or grades at all since you’re competitive and qualified. This is the point at which your teacher recs and essays will become EXTREMELY important.
