stanford... :(

I applied for early action and found out yesterday that I got rejected... I have a 4.0 unweighted GPA, 7 AP classes, 2250 SAT, i'm a small group leader at my church for 2 years now, varsity cross country and track, was involved in band freshman and sophomore year, shoveled snow for the elderly for 2 winters, AP scholar award, athlete of the meet for cross country sophomore year and this year... My AP lit teacher read all my essays and I only had a few minor things to tweak... 2 teachers who know me well wrote me fantastic letters of rec and my counselor who knows my whole family wrote me a positive secondary school report...

Basically what I'm wondering is if there are also many people with stats like mine that have been rejected from stanford this year or in recent years... I was very disappointed to find out that I wasn't accepted and all my friends and family are very surprised. I'm just not sure why I didn't get in :/

There are kids with far more impressive stats who get rejected every year, just go look at the REA decision thread.

I’m sorry what/where is REA? this is the first time I have posted here.

Oh restricted early action got it, where is it?

Years ago, I had a friend who’d spent a few years between college and grad school working in the admissions office at Harvard. She said that the most draining part of her job was denying a lot of perfectly well qualified kids admission for no good reason at all. There were simply far more highly qualified applicants than spaces in the incoming class.

Naturally, the same thing applies to Stanford. And I’m quite sure it applies to both Stanford and Harvard more now than it did in the 1980s when my friend worked in admissions.

I’m very sorry about your disappointment. In your position, I’d be disappointed too.

Sorry to hear it. It’s hard to believe that someone with your credentials would not get in. However, I know that you are not alone. There are so many strong candidates these days all competing for the same schools. Makes it very tough.

Here you go: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/stanford-university/1043618-official-stanford-university-rea-decisions-class-2015-hamba-harambee-knaves-xd.html

You’re in good company as a Stanford REA rejectee, and I’m sure you’ll end up at a great college.

Most people with 4.0/2400 don’t get in. It’s not your failure! Simply, there’s not enough space.

thank you jersey13

and thanks everyone else I feel better now that there are many others like me that were rejected as well
