Wow rejected...

My cousin who is one of the brightest people I know got rejected.

Her stats were:
GPA 4.0 UW
SAT 2300

tons of AP classes with 5s 4s and 3s

Damn...stanford must have really picked up their admission standards this year...

5% increase in apps this cycle.

Sometimes its not all about test scores and grades. Holistic Approach.

Everytime I hear "holistic" I'm reminded of Dirk Pitt's Holistic Detective Agency...

I know a similar girl that got rejected too...it happens a lot of it is luck with draw.

Guess what happens when 10 times more amazingly bright and talented people apply than you have room for in your class?

I know it's easy to think of it as luck, elitism, high standards, etc., but I think they just have to use tiny nuances that we couldn't possibly be sure of (ie, certain things in essays or recommendations).

My sympathies to those rejected, into RD I plunge.

Stats should be required in US Highschools.

I thought that was Dirk Gentley?

I just got accepted EA....my stats are decent but nothing extraordinary....3.85/2250...I think its got alot to do with essays and recs

yeah my friend just got rejected too with a 4.0 uw and a very high sat score. sad :(

hey spartanspirit! I helped edit your essays =) were my edits helpful?

about EA, last year the acceptance rate was around 20%, this year it was 16% which reflects what hazmat said in the # of apps increase

spartanspirit, do you think you could let me read one of your essays?

were all rejection letters the same? Ending with the paragraph that says ____, you are a fine student with solid support from your teachers and advisors.... I only wish we had room for everyone with talent and energy like yours...
