Stanford

Greetings everyone!

Hi my name is Faizan from California… My high school a-g gpa is 4.3 and college gpa is 4.1 with IB courses … I have 295 credits and got straight As. I have also participated in a IB World Student Conference in Denver Colorado 2016… In that conference I along with students from all over the world worked with Global Action Teams to solve global issues. Moreover, i have created a Club in school for social services and accomplished many goals in it, thus played a vital role for community. Other than this, i have also organized an event for World Art day in which for the first time my whole school’s clubs worked on same platform. in that event entire school participated and there was a competition on art and the winner was awarded. i have also done an Internship in Summer. Moreover, I have also taken new SAT and ACT. my SAT scores were 1000 and ACT scores were 18 and i will take these tests again. I have done a lot more than these things…
Can i get accepted into Stanford? what else should i do?

and yeah i am a Muslim so is there racism in Stanford?
Thankx

You are obviously very uninformed. Your scores are incredibly low for Stanford. You should look at other schools and ask yourself why you want to go to Stanford in the first place.

what if i improve my scores?

Many of your competition will have almost double your ACT score. That’s a big increase. If you think you can do that, go study hard and come back when you have the high score. Otherwise, you may want to pick schools that fit your actual scores.

I agree that your scores are way too low at this point; it would be a waste of money to apply with your current scores. Work on improving, although it’s a big increase and you probably wouldn’t be able to raise them enough. And keep in mind that even if you somehow improve drastically and get a 36 ACT or 1600 SAT, you still have very slim chances. At highly competitive schools like Stanford, numbers can only do so much. So many applicants have the numbers (have a perfect GPA with a rigorous courseload, have perfect test scores) and still get rejected. You also need meaningful ECs (not just joining a bunch of clubs to pad your resume), glowing letters of rec, and a great essay(s). And even then, it’s still a reach with nothing guaranteed.

Best of luck!

Stanford has one of the most diverse student bodies for a top level school. No place is safe from racism but Stanford doesn’t seem like its a place where that behavior is tolerated. How do you make straight A’s and have only 18 on ACT?

well you know everybody is not perfect in Multiple Choice Questions and i was shocked too by my scores… i would say that the test was not that hard but you don’t have enough time to complete it all. i have to work on my speed… but someone who is studying in stanford told me that ACT and SAT are not everything they look at. they need passionate students and if i show them a good transcript then there are chances that they accept me. Cause she had 3.8gpa but good test scores and her test scores covered up her gpa.

When people say “scores aren’t everything” that’s for applicants who scores are below average slightly…so for Stanford ACT of 27-31 range would be below average but possible. Your EC aren’t something super special that would override your very low score.

@FaizanAshraf How would you fare with much more difficult timed tests in college with only an 18 ACT score? It’s true that standardized test scores aren’t the only factor, but a very low score can raise questions on whether you have the ability to handle more advanced material at Stanford.

Imptovr your grades, retake SAT/ACT, step up in extracurricular and you’ll get into a good college. Stanford is out of your reach. Not because you are Muslim or Mormon but because your stats aren’t good enough to apply. If you really want to go to Stanford then do better in undergrad and apply there for masters degree.

You scored in the 36th percentile of ACT takers. That means well over half the people in your VERY OWN HIGH SCHOOL did better than you. Please use the SuperMatch function on the left side.

It’s hard to believe that someone who has straight A’s in IB classes got a 1000 on the SAT. I dozed off in high school and scored much higher than that. Maybe consider taking a SAT prep class.

@10s4life There are times for subtlety and there are times for being blunt. A potential applicant with an ACT 18 and SAT 1000 requires bluntness.
