as a stanford SCEA reject like myself, i think i can speak for all of us and say that we're pretty crushed. i'm a shattered man, and the only way to piece me together again is if i get an acceptance letter in april... even so, i'll be scarred for life by getting rejected by my number one school...

moving on, i just wanna say this community has been pretty amazing, and very representative of the group that toils on the campus at Palo Alto. just goes to show you stanford probably does field some of the coolest people in the nation. and even though the rejection/acceptances have come in, i dont think we have to cut off ties right here...

people like myself are a little in the dark as to why they were rejected, but not doing anything to change our applications is only an invitation for all the rejection letters in april. i had competitive stats (2230 SAT I, 790/750 SAT II, asb, four year varsity player, top 3%), but obviously, it wasn't enough. i like to think my essays might have had something to do with it, even though i spent at least 3 months working on them and thinking about it... looking back at them now, after i got my rejection, they might have made the difference, i dont know

i'm just calling on any accepted students here to possibly set up an essay exchange? even though the word exchange is kind of a misnomer, i was wondering if there are any accepted people that want to help out some of the defeated SCEA people by letting them take a look at their essays that were accepted. i guess we're on the honor system here, but i'm willing to trust anyone on this board wont plagarize, as that's pretty conniving.

we all have more schools to apply to, and any help would be welcome. hopefully our tightly-knit community will stay that way, rejected/deferred/or accepted. thank you, in advance

Sure, I'd be willing - I'm interested to read essays; I'm sure any essay written by someone on this board, admitted or not, would be worth reading. Since I am on Christmas break, I've got all the time and curiosity, especially on this slow Sunday. Send me a PM.

Yeah, I kinda think mine sucked, but since I got deferred, I would like to see some others. Also willing to hook up anyone who wants mine for any reason.

for all those accepted people, give me a pm and we'll get in touch. if you want to send all the essays at once, i'll give you my e-mail through a pm.

I was ea to Harvard instead (please don't shoot me you Stanfordians!) and I'm done with all my college applications; I'd love to pitch my two cents in and help out, and you can be sure I won't be "borrowing material" as I'm all done with college apps (and the SAT, too. Thank goodness we'll never have to do that again, right?!). PM me

this sounds like a really good idea. i was deferred myself so pm me if you want to see my essays. also, if any of you acceptees are willing to share your essays, I'd really appreciate that too.

hi, i'm a junior this year and stanford has been my #1 school since forever. i've been to this board several times in the past 2 months but just recently registered. i'd really appreciate if some of you acceptees would share your essays with me so that i can get an idea of what the accepted essays are like. as sunkist said, we are on the honor system here, i promise that i won't plagerize or anything. So if you want to help a fellow future stanford-ian out, please pm me too.

I was accepted SCEA, but I kinda hated my long essay...it barely incorporated the quote I chose and wasn't really amazingly well written or anything. I know the others (esp. the intellectual idea) were pretty good, though.

If you really want, I can show them to you...but I think in my case it was the recs that got me in.
