I heard a rumor that Stanford will accept you if you started your own business. Does anyone know about that? Could someone please elaborate on it?
Thanks!

no...dat is just ridiculous. It may boost your chances, but that alone won't get you into Stanford. haha..who told you that?

that is a rumor. i know for sure. i started my own business, wrote about and got a phatty rejection

No one signle thing will get you in. That's it, plain and simple. It's the whole package, the application.

Starting a business boosts your chances, but if you have bad grades you're still screwed.

A business can only help you if you dedicate much of your time to it. If you have other EC's like sports, jobs, band, etc. it shows that your business isn't much of a business since your not spending much time on it.

The business that would really be impressive are ones that teens are making tens of thousands of dollars on. Any one can start a business and make a few grand so it has to be really successful in order to add to your application and increase your chances.
