As a cinephile, I have to say that I love it when a Michigan alum is involved in movie making. In this case, I am referring to the Star Wars Michigan connection. First, James Earl Jones lent his voice to Darth Vader. How cool is that. But later on, I discovered that Lawrence Kasdan, who directed major movies such as Body Heat and the Big Chill, also wrote the screenplay for Star Wars Episodes V, VI and most recently, VII! He also wrote the screenplay for the Raiders of the Lost Ark. It is good to be a Michigan Wolverine!
You should then also like the fact that Spock’s father was played by Michigan graduate Mark Lenard: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Lenard.
So to both Luke and Spock you can say: “Who is your daddy?”.
Here is a list of other Michigan alums in the arts: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_University_of_Michigan_arts_alumni#Directors.2C_producers.2C_and_screenwriters
That list includes Margo Martindale who is currently appearing on “The Good Wife”: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Margo_Martindale
“So to both Luke and Spock you can say: “Who is your daddy?”.”
Hehe! I love it!
The Alumni Association of UM posted a video of his 1990 commencement speech on Facebook - pretty good speech worth the listen.
Awesome speech! LOL! Thanks for the tip.
