Starting a Club?

So, from the title of this thread, I bet you can guess what I want to do next year. Yep, a club. Anyway, how the idea came about is that I got a particular item that I quickly became passionate about and really enjoyed back in February of this year. That item was a pair of roller skates. I taught myself to skate, and now I skate all of the time, sometimes driving to different parks to skate around. I've met other people in my school who skate and cycle, so I decided that maybe I could open up a club for skating/cycling, so everyone could enjoy this together. I know, my reasoning my sound strange, but I really just figured a skating club would be fun for a lot of my peers and it's a good way to be social, which is something I could use some work on. Anyway, try not to question my reasoning too much. Basically, I want to start a club, and I need some advice.

I want to know if any of you guys have started clubs of your own. And I'm not talking about a new instance of an already international/nationally established club (although your input is appreciated), but favorably a completely new club, which is even more of a venture. If you have started a club:

How did you start it? (approval, etc.)

How did you get members to join?

How did you find a sponsor?

How have you kept it up?

Those are my main questions, but if you have any other advice for me, please don't be afraid to let me know. Even if you have to flat out say, "it's not feasible" tell me why. I appreciate opinions, just so you know. If you have any questions for me, ask. Well then, have at it.

bump because i actually need some help here, if you will…

At my school all you do is go to the front office and ask to start a club. They will ask what sort of club it is, and how many members you have ready to join. You can get them to announce info about this club you wish to start and hang up fliers in the hall everywhere!

Sponsors are very difficult to find, especially for a high school organization. Maybe ask a sport equip. store or a local skate rink?

I started a club at my school for those interested in Science and Math careers in the future. You just need a devoted following, they will come! No worries.

I plan on creating a Business club with a friend this year but dont you need to a teacher to represent the club?

How did you start it? (approval, etc.)

How did you get members to join?

How did you find a sponsor?

How have you kept it up?

Well, actually this part was the easy part. My teacher actually approached me about starting the club. He had a club he wanted to get going, but no student interest.

Facebook (I managed to get 40 members on the FB group). My friends who told their friends and poster advertising.

See #1.

It was fun so why not? Plus, a lot people enjoyed coming and kept inquiring about the next meeting.

2 PAGE BUMP WHOOO

Anyway, I’m mostly concerned about sponsoring. I’m really wondering if there’s a nationally established skating and/or cycling club that I could start a new instance of. That would make things so much easier. Anyway, more help is appreciated.
