my brother and i are planning on starting a new club at our school this year. Its tentatively called "KNOW THE ISSUES". It will focus on raising voter awareness and promote intelligent voting based on issues. There will probably be one center issue per meeting. There will be brief presentations, discussion, and debate.
(our school has young rep. and young democrat clubs, but i dont think they have anything like this)

What do you guys think of an idea like this?
Any tips on how to get it started? on how to attract memebers?

Well, I think it's a good idea, with the elections coming up and all. Tell your friends about it and I'm sure many people would come. When I started a new cub in my school, I just told my friends I am starting one and they all came. Good Luck with the club!! :)

Thats a good idea! To continue the club after the elections, I would talk about controversial issues, like abortion and stem cell research, educating club members so they "know the issues." Good luck!

Be glad you aren't trying it at my school. They won't let us have any clubs (no drama, no language clubs at all, no science club, practically non-existant math club, etc.). They apparently want us all to end up at the community college.

Goodluck with your club though. Hopefully your school isn't as oppressive as mine and they will hopefully help you.

^ Ah, but it would also seem like I'm making clubs just to be a founder/leader, given that I'm already starting an Investment Club this year [only because I was a member last year and loved it, but the President graduated and the former moderator retired from teaching]

by the way, how can my brother and i keep members interested throughout the whole year? it seems that the clubs that thrive in high school r the community service orientated ones that have definite goals.
