So I want to start this club that prepares people for the International Math/Physics/Chemistry/Biology/Informatics Olympiads and their lower-level counterparts. The problem is, I'm applying to colleges this year, and several people have found it odd that I'd start a club my last year in high school. So basically, if I start the club now, will it make me look like a resume whore?

Tell me: must passion and dedication die in the junior year?

I started one.

It invites leaders for lectures on leadership.

I'm weak in that department, so I started a club for my benefit.

No, the only time you can start clubs is the end of 8th grade.

No, it doesn't. Most of the clubs at my school were started when the founders were in their senior year. It's usually because they have more experience in leadership by their 4th year.

The student who founded my school's Gay-Straight Alliance was a senior when he did it... he's at Stanford now. Don't worry about it.

you can do whatever you want, but the club won't be very effective.

I am in a similar situation. I'm a senior and I want to start a newspaper in my school. (I posted that here a few days ago). I know for a fact that it will be neglected after I go off to college; but I want to do it anyway. I'm waiting for the school to give us our schedules, which is taking longer than I had originally expected, to tell them about the idea. I think you should go for it!
