Starting the new academic year

Hi Guys :)

I know this question may seem ■■■■■■■■, but will Brown (or any other US uni for the matter) allow students to start the year in Jan? Cause I am from the Southern Hemisphere, and our schools finish in Dec, not June. :P

Whats the normal routine? Just wait the 6 months until school starts?

Thanks very much

Oh wow. I never thought of that situation lol. Ya, I guess you’d wait the 6 months, but I’m not 100% sure.

At least some Universities (Middlebury and Brandeis come to mind as ones I’m certain of) will let you start in January. The way Brown handles class standing suggests they’d at least consider it (you’re recognized by semester level, not year), but I can’t say for sure.

The people I know from South Africa all waited 6 months and took the opportunity to do internship type experiences or travel (all 3 of them).

Thanks for the help guys :)

melody: You know people from SA? I don’t feel so alone. They attend Brown?

I’ve met three people from SA at Brown in the last 5 years.

Not too bad ehh  Gives me some inspiration. Why did you choose Brown? Where else did you apply/want to go?

Start here as a primer for my thoughts.
