<p>Ok, I'm confused.
My son got his SAT scores back today. He earned an 800 in Math. The college board showed that as being at the 97% in our state. </p>

<p>How can a score of 800 be at the 97%?</p>

<p>The percentile tells you how many people you did better than. 97 percentile simply means that the other 3% have the same score, while 97 percent scored lower than 800.</p>
