JFK was at Princeton... took a semester off due to medical conditions, transferred to harvard

LSE -> Princeton -> Harvard

Quite a pedigree there

Kennedy name >>>>>>>> LSE -> Princeton -> Harvard in terms of pedigree. :)

Agreed. That Kennedy name sure didn't get him the presidency though. Kudos to JFK

The Kennedy estate didn't hurt, though.

Haha, point is, he didn't transfer from a state school :P

ivy-transfer,

Almost the same topic came up on the Harvard thread about two weeks ago. The president of Harvard was asked how well a one million dollar contribution would do in getting someone admitted there, and his reply was that unless it was at least 10 million dollars, it wouldn't even show up on his radar (meaning he probably wouldn't even be aware of it)--and he also implied that this wouldn't carry too much weight in the decision process unless the student was already an extremely qualified applicant.

Unless you are a celebrity or come from a connected family (are you related to the Clintons or Bushs?), then you are quite unlikely to be admitted to Princeton as a transfer.

"knowing" someone means jack-"ship" .You have to have influence over them. I "know" people too. But unless I can convince them to perform sudden acts of charity to someone who doesn't really "need" it, it doesn't help.

How did Clinton get into Georgetown with a 1060 SAT?

How did you find that information? I doubt that Clinton, a Rhodes scholar, scored so low. Even if he did, the old SAT scores meant something different from the newer ones. Who knows what the percentiles were then...

I'll try to find the website I got that from. Who knows how accurate that is tho

FWIW, the percentiles were not that different back then. In fact, except for the recentering exercise in the mid 1990s, the CB claims that SAT scores from any year are comparable to any other year. And for bridging the divide from recentering, they provide a reference. In many cases, the differences pre and post recentering are not huge. Some verbal scores went up as much as 60 points under the new system, but some math scores are actually lower.

You can see the details here: http://www.collegeboard.com/research/pdf/rs05_3962.pdf

A 1060? Clinton? Highly, highly doubt it. Bush even got slightly higher than that. Only slightly. And in terms of intelligence (and everything else in life...) Clinton (Bill) > Bush.
